Insurance

Just got notice that National Interstate is dropping RV & Auto insurance. Ours is due 1/6 for RV & 2/12/18 for vehicles. Anyone have outstanding insurance that we can look into for fulltimers? Nancy

Makes a difference what state.
I am in FL and with National General for FT and RV and Geico for Auto.
Haven't had any claims and seem to be happy with them both.

I have GEICO in FL for three vehicles and the FW. Have used their road service three times this year with no issues. Had a moderate claim for damage to my truck from a shredded tire caused by road debris, to the wheel, exhaust, bed side, over $3000, and no increase in my premium. I can't complain.

Hi Nancy! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

We're not fulltimers yet, but we have been using Safeco for several years! Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

WE use Florida as our home base and had GEICO for a year and now with progressive for the MH and vehicle. Thankfully have not had to use the road service on either company.

I've posted before that Geico says it has "fulltimer" insurance, but that just means they will cover an RV for use 365 days a year. It does not necessarily mean the policy includes the liability portion that fulltimers need to replace the liability that they would normally have with a homeowner's or renter's policy.

So if getting a quote from Geico for fulltimer insurance, ask for a breakdown of the individual coverages to make sure the "fulltimer liability" is in there. It's not there in Texas.

Contact Miller Insurance Agency. We had Progressive and got way too high. They are owned by an rver and know what we need.

I tried Miller Ins a few years ago. Gave them my info, a couple days later they called and wanted to know how much I was paying now. Told them their job was to find prices/coverage and I'd decide what I wanted. Never heard from them again.

Thanks for the help good info. Went with National General thru Good Sams ins. dept. Brandon was really helpful & thought of things we really needed as full timers that we had not. Now I hope we never have to find out how good it is or isn't. Nancy

There is a post on RV Forums from a guy with Good Sam insurance. He was in Texas and a flood came through the night and he had water to his floor inside.

Contacted the Ins Co and they towed the MH to a Good Sam store. This was in June. They did not empty or clean out the bays, left it sitting with mud and water inside. There is mold and last I heard, November, they still had not made a decision on the repairs??

They were incredibly helpful and very nice to me and wife. Only agency we have ever talked with that really understand our needs.

That's what I understood too and I'm almost local to them. No idea why they needed to know what I was already paying though.

I was with Miller for a few years, and then when I was renewing I was changing some things, and it turned out the agent I was talking to didn't make those changes, and didn't call me back, so it got all messed up.

So I went with another company for a while, and then tried Miller again when renewal time came up, and the agent told me something about the coverage that I knew wasn't right. To her credit, she said she'd check on it, and got back to me and said I was right.

But I'm not an insurance expert by any stretch of the imagination, and was concerned that one of the big dogs in the field didn't know something that I did. I mean, that's their job.
