Question Jumping in the Deep End !

Hi, I'm brand new here AND to RV'ing, just bought my first, a 33' Travel Supreme 5'er. (so bear with any dumb questions I ask lol)

I will be setting up on a private piece of property and hooking up to the residential utilities there, in order to live in the RV full time for a period of 6 months to maybe a year or more.

Thankfully this unit has lots of storage and space, but I'm afraid of what I DON'T know... What do I need to know or consider as I bring it in, set it up and begin this new way of living ?

Start with basics and take anything you would be taking on an extended vacation. Hopefully your near stores where you can restock groceries and essentials. You will learn as you go. Good luck and let us know how your doing. Never dumb questions....

Good tips !

I'm especially wondering if there is anything in particular odd or special I'll need to do or be aware of as far as hooking up.. I know RV Parks have the hookups there and ready, but I will be hooking up to regular residential power and water service, and a septic tank.

This morning I had this awful mental image of plugging up the power and hearing this huge zzzssst, POP, and everything on my RV was fried,

Or any issues related to long term set up and use ? Guess I should "exercise" the slides in and out semi-regularly ?

Thanks so much !!

What to know, you will learn but one handy suggestion is always make sue your fifth wheel is contacting your trailer plate.A little lift won,t hurt but if you slide in with them separated you might drop your trailer on your truck.Makes a mess of the box sides and you will see them as you camp so it is something to keep in mind when hooking up.Look from the rear and make sure your fifth wheel is clamped onto the pin and it wiill never happen.Good luck, jeffp truk and fiver

Remember if it's a 30 amp unit with 3 prong plug then it's 120V only - if it's a 50 amp unit with 4 prong plug then that's 240 don't plug the three prong plug into a 240 like a dryer plug seen that it's not pretty

Correct me if I am missing something. What is 240? My understanding is all rv s are 110 either 30 or 50 amp. A dryer is 220 which is different than a rv 50 amp plug in. I hope someone answers this so no one
Plugs into a 220 by mistake. Good luck Jeffp

oops my mistake I have seen units that had the three prong plug on them and owners though it was ok to plug them into the dryer style plug which was 220

You knew that 50 amp has two 120V legs on it your just messing with us so yea it is 120V on each leg which needs a 240V 50 amp service to run
