I have been fulltiming since May. There is nothing I got rid of that I regret and much that I originally thought I should carry that I have since chucked. Tools are heavy, so choose wisely. Perhaps have a "don't sell yet" pile at your son's place. When you find you don't need it, have him move it to the "sell" pile.

We are getting ready to move into our coach and full time travel also. The house selling and selling off everything has really been hard. 30 years in one home and lots of Stuff, lots of tools, and collectables. All gotta go.
We just put the house on the market. Our pets are going to have a real adjustment to make when we go.
We are looking foreward to it, and selling off things is getting easier, especially when you consider you'll have to pitch it away if it does not sell.
Best wishes to you, you're way ahead of us.
Small house... big yard !

The sale for the contents of our house is scheduled for a couple of weeks. We are going to rent a storage unit for some furniture and other items. I have a rolling tool box. Whatever I can fit in there, I'll store. I still haven't decided what to take on the road with me.
The house will go on the market in January when we both retire. My DW informs me that after a few years we will find us a home port. Most likely won't own real estate again.

From what I have learned by other people, most of the time a storage unit is not worth the money in the long run. It's not too long until you could have just thrown away everything in there and bought all new stuff. Especially if you are not planning for a new sticks and bricks. Unless that furniture has some major sentimental value I wouldn't even pay the storage on it.

Sale has stalled, due to unreasonable requests from buyer, not the bank, so I guess I have a home base to park at in the summer off and on.

If you have space for the tools I would carry a selection. Skilled person with tools stands to be able to make a few bucks now and then. Even a retired person might enjoy using his/her skills now and again.
If your going to be Workampers those tools may come in handy.

It makes you wonder, if we can't figure out a way to marry up skilled FT's and needy sticks & bricks owners.
Like, Elmer spends his life as a plumber and he and Ellen decide to FT in their '09 Prevost*.
He periodically updates some iRV2 roster that shows his name, former occupation, date of update, and location. Then, someone looking for a plumber needs help, goes to the roster and finds out Elmer and Ellen are fifteen miles away work-camping to pay for the $10K slideout seal repair on their stainless steel palace. Viola, work for Elmer and a valuable service for whomever needed a trusted and experienced plumber.
Food for thought. Worth a try?
This is where I go back to my shop and resume running 50A svc for the rig...
* A fellow airline pilot, senior captain, blew a pipe Xmas Eve. The plumber came to repair it, had it done in 10 minutes, and handed Cappy a bill for $200. "What?" Exclaimed the white-haired 767 pilot, eyes bugging out. "This is $1,200 an hour! I'm an International 767 captain for the biggest airline in the world, and I only make $200 an hour!" The plumber shook his head and patted his customer on the shoulder. "Aw, don't feel bad, George. Back when I was a 767 captain we only got $175."
