We now call home the Escapee RV Co-Op in Benson, AZ for 6 months and travel for 6 months. The life style suits us. We have many more friends and activities going on than we ever did when we lived in one place for 40 years. We live in our motorhome year round and usually at least once a week remark how glad we are that we non't have a house to worry about.

Missing home?

Our motorhome IS home! We are totally comfortable wherever it is. It's what we come HOME to!
We will fulltime until we cannot or change our minds. Then we will rent something maintenance free and move as we wish. Never put up with bad neighbors, never be chained to one spot, and visit all of our kin all over the country.
We are more adventurous than most, and when we quit moving and sit in the rocker is when we will start dying.
We move often, sometimes just to change the outdoor wallpaper!
The house was a hole to pour funds into forever. We live LARGE on that money! Cruises and and fine hotels beat house chores every time.
May the Journey also be Your Destination!

Home is probably more important to some than others. For the most part, it is always nice to get home or to rest at home, especially the older we get. I am not talking about home in the sense of family and friends, just the familiarity of home. Not just the home itself but the place, geography.

Did it take some adjustment for you, your spouse. Was it what you expected.

For many of us the coach IS HOME.

Wherever you go, there you are. I seeing my old neighbors on daily basis while walking the dog, but I now feel at home just about anywhere after about a week. Having traveled almost constantly for work for many years, staying in hotels, home is where my own bed is. Having the dog with helps too.

That sounds good to me. My problem is that I live on a large lake in a very rural location and it is pretty. Hate to give that up. Right now I have two homes. I like that because when we go from one to the other, it is like a vacation.

Gonna sell one, keep my lake place in Florida and replace the other home with a RV. That will be a good replacement..

I'm not a full timer, However, when we head out we are gone for several months at a time. We don't miss the S&B, nor our hometown. What we do miss is our children and grand children. That's what always brings us back home.

I've wanted to go full time for years, but life intervened and still haven't made it. DW thinks we have to keep the stick house to come back to and I say sell it and go as soon as the grandson is out of high school.
But the DW has liver cancer so another setback. May never get to go full time now.
Go while you can and enjoy it!

Mr. D,

Sorry to hear of your family medical woes. Hope all works out for you and your family.

We used to live in the "Couv" too.

Same here, if it weren't for our kids/and 4 Grandkids we would stay out longer and more often. After a month or so we miss them too much. We will never sell our house though, it is nice to have something to come back to, and in our area it would be hard to replace as there's just not that many houses with our set up and lot size. We can keep our MH on our property, and its not in the way. That's hard to find in Orange County. As far as I'm concerned the Grandkids will inherit it someday, and help them get their first homes. So I don't mind the money we spend on it now as it's an appreciating asset, and will be there for them in the long run.

If you have to ask, you're not ready for fulltiming.
