Need insurance help

We have sold the house and we are getting ready for fulltiming this fall. We decided their were lots of things we could not part with right now. We decided we would store the household goods and personal belongings in a cargo trailer in a storage lot. Now we can't find any kind of insurance coverage to cover those things in the event of theft or tornado or etc. Any ideas, we can't be the first people this has happened to.

Why not just store them in a gated, climate controlled garage? I'm sure you can insure there.

If you can't afford climate-controlled storage, you may want to reconsider how much stuff you are keeping because temperature and humidity variations are extremely hard on furniture of any type (both wood and upholstered) and on things like clothing and other fabrics, and on things like photographs.

If you can pare down what you are keeping, maybe a relative will have space for a couple of boxes in a closet in a spare bedroom.

Check with the insurance company you are using for the RV. Perhaps it will also coverage your contents in storage.

Good luck
