I agree. I bought things I thought I had to have and they are taking up room in a cupboard. I also do not buy RV TP. Awful stuff. No chemicals either. Lots of water when you flush will take care of smell and breaking up the solids.
One must have for me is a water filter for the outside hose. Can buy at WalMart pretty cheap. Write the date on it in marker so you can know when to change it out.

Congratulations and have a safe trip home. Most of all enjoy yourselves.

Wow!!! Lots of great advise. Just one thing more to consider--- are you planning to use it part-time or full-time? planning to sell your "sticks and bricks"? If so, many of the things you'll want you already own. Why duplicate just for the trip home? Pick up paper products and the minimum stuff for your cross country ride home and furnish other things from your home. Patronize businesses at home for the things you need to fill in the blanks that you want in both places. I know it is exciting to furnish your new "playhouse" but take your time and think before ya "jump". lol Also, there are a few tools you may want to have on hand as well. We found that we had several duplicates in the workshop at home so it was easy to fill an appropriate tool box to carry with once we got our playhouse in the driveway.

Have fun!!! RVing is great! By the way, congrats on your new purchase!!!

We will fly to CA from MD in a couple weeks & drive our coach back to Maryland.
Will standard KS sheets fit the KS bed in our coach?
What would you ship or pack to bring for the maiden trip?
What type of plates, cups etc...should we plan to buy (eventully)
Any other tips would be great...I love IRV2, so many nice people and resources
My wife and I just bought 2004 Bounder 38N in North Carolina Jan 27 , 12 and drove it too Illinois where we live Friday. Took 12 hours. We packed two changes of clothes. The reason for the clothes is we set up an appointment at a local RV shop to change all the oils and filters, also had them re seal the roof since it was an older coach, before driving and had them inspect for any issues. They found very litle wrong but one thing they found that was important was it needed new windshield wipers. Trip went well and had no issues. The only thing was when we got home, my house batteries were dead so apparently there may be a charging issues with those. Good luck and have a safe trip.

PS: we are from Pa. so originaly not to far from you. I am retiring in May so plan to due a little travel.

You can use any king size sheets. No, they don't fit exactly right but I'm too cheap to buy the "special" rv sheets. I went to Wal Mart and bought a pair of men's 2 inch wide suspenders, extend them out as far as you can and lay them under your mattress in the middle. Attach on each side about a foot apart and they tighten the sheet so that there is no extra material bunching up while you sleep. Like other posters have said you will need pretty much what you use daily in your home, just less of it!

I love the idea of using regular suspenders ! Sounds like they would be easier to use than the ones made for that . I am going to buy some now ! ( First I am going to look in my husbands closet and see if he has a pair

We have taken our time to out fit our 5er. As was said before, what you have at home you will need in your unit. Don't cheap out, you'll regret it and just landing up spending more money in thr long run. We even bought a portable induction cooktop with a full set of pots and pans. We have a nice set of dishes and use nice glassware, A must is definatly a wine cork. as you will be celebrating your new purchase.
Happy trails

Just found this picture on the internet. I assume yours looks like that.

Nice looking rig. Where in California are you picking it up?

And what route are you taking back home?

Walmart would be your best bet based on the price they are charging for carry on luggage.

When my DW and I set up our RV, we looked around home on what we would use in the RV. We bought expensive new pots and pans for the house and put our used light weight stuff in the RV. Same with dinner ware, knife set etc. Of course we are not full timing so we could do with some used household items in the RV with an excuse to have brand new in our home. A good resource for bedding is a small family company in South Carolina called A B Lifestyle Home Store. Real good sheet sets with mattress pads made right there with no tax or shipping fees. For Home... And Wherever You Roam (ABLifestyles.net). Good luck with your new rig and many, many happy and safe miles! Always travel the two lane when time permits.

I agree with paper plates, plastic table wear and cups. If you try and buy everything at once you'll have a hodge-podge of item's you won't like down the road. Go basic till you get home. A must have item in my mind would be a coffee maker.
