New to Full timing

As part of our retirement plan, my wife and I both changed jobs and moved to Alabama. This required we downsize again, hence our full timing in the RV we bought several months ago. So far, so good. I had all the major issues with the used RV repaired by a local RV repair facility before she moved in with me. I think this has made living in the RV more enjoyable.
Things we have learned since beginning our full time lifestyle:
1) RV refrigerators/freezers work best when full (they need the thermal mass of food/liquids to help them stay cold). At least ours does.
2) The mattress that comes with RVs needs to be replaced with a household mattress for full time living
3) Fixing all electrical problems (if there are any) before using the RV is a must
4) Making the RV waterproof (roof repair) is imperative if the RV will not be stored/used in a covered environment. Ours had known roof leaks, and I had no problem fixing those leaks. The new materials available made the repair very easy. In the future I will have the whole roof recoated/covered. I have not decided if I'll do that or I'll have it done. Depends on our schedule and $$.
5) We've found having a combination washer/dryer is a must for convenience and cost. We priced out having our laundry washed for us and we can pay for the newest RV washer/dryer in 20 weeks vs. paying for laundry service.
6) I don't see my woodworking skills suddenly improving after 30+ years of trying and failing to do quality work, so that work will have to be done by a professional (cabinet repair).
7) Finding a reputable RV repair company is imperative. We found a company that will come to us for small stuff and has a pull repair facility when the major stuff needs to be addressed. I was very happy with their work/$ rate for what was done. You almost always get what you pay for.

We are looking forward to our first trip together. The DW still hasn't ridden in the RV, she followed me in my car when we moved (cheaper for her to drive it than tow it).

Hi Rob,
We've been ft for 6 months now and love it.
Some other things to get are a dehumidifier(moisture from cooking and bathing are really hard on a moho), collapsible bowls, crisper, ect.(storage space is alway an issue when you full time), patio rug and tie downs for your awing. A good hand held vacuum(we bought a Dyson V6--pricey but well worth it). A small rug shampooer( carpet in a small space gets dirtier faster).
Enjoy your new ft lifestyle, it's different but in a good way.
Rick
