The wife deals with either WalMart or Walgreen. Before we leave for the winter she get's two 90 day scripts. When the first 90 are gone she can have the 2nd 90 day scripts filled. So far has not been a problem. As mentioned your doctor should understand you dilema and work with you.

Generic Cymbalta?
There will not be a legal generic for Cymbalta until after it's patent protection expires in 2013. Where do you suppose it's being made? China, Eastern Europe, Afganistan?
Having worked in the medical insurance and pharmaceutical industries for half of my career I am appalled that folks are willing to risk their very lives to save a few bucks.
If you truly cannot afford the drug there are hundreds of drug subsidy programs to assist you. Just type 'Drug assistance' into your search engine and pick one.
My employer was one of the first to create such a program. Don't assume that you won't qualify.
Wondering why Cymbalta costs what it does? : The Story Behind the Cymbalta Cost | Cymbalta Coupon there are similar pages for almost all drugs.

I read the link provided and, with all due respect, that's a bunch of BS. I worked at a PR firm for 10 years and I know a snow job when I see it. I copied the last line "Since Cymbalta has enjoyed such a huge success, the Cymbalta cost will stay low."
Therein lies the problem! They consider $5.05/pill to be low cost. I take 60 capsules/month. That would cost me $303/mo instead of the $45/mo generic cost. I simply can't justify spending an extra $3096/year. As for the patient assistance programs -- I am not a beggar and I don't want to turn over my financial information to unknown people in order to be judged "needy enough" for their help. As long as I can find a way to provide for myself, I will.
I do not risk my health on 3rd world drugs from some back alley supplier. I buy generic prescription drugs made in another country and sold by a pharmacy licensed in Canada. My body can't tell a difference. Many of the
brand name Rx drugs sold in US pharmacies are actually made in other countries, just like American cars. We are not the only country capable of quality.

Good Luck Then
It's your money, your health, and your choice.
My choice would be different. Is my choice influenced by 20 years of experience in the industry, some of it spent trying to stop counterfeit drugs and devices from entering the US 'VIA CANADA'. You bet it is.
I suggest that you search for 'generic Cymbalta' for yourself. No such thing.
Or see this link: http://depression.emedtv.com/cymbalt...-cymbalta.html
first paragraph : A patent currently prohibits any generic Cymbalta from being manufactured and sold in the United States. However, there are places claiming to sell a "generic Cymbalta," but be advised that these medications are fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous. The earliest date that a generic version of Cymbalta could become available is in 2013, when the patent expires.

On this subject we will have to agree to disagree.
From Consumer Reorts, who has no financial stake in what it reports, "Overall, generic drugs appear no more likely than brand-name drugs to pose risks, according to our review of available data and interviews with experts. From 2004 through 2008, for example, generic drug companies received slightly fewer FDA "warning letters" about problems complying with good manufacturing practices than did brand-name ones, according the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA), a trade group based in Arlington, Va. That's particularly notable, since there are far more generic than brand-name drugs on the market."
Worried about generics?
And it states that many US drug companies buy ingredients made overseas.
For me, the drug works, I have no adverse effects, and the money I save pays for all my fuel to drive about 8,000 miles per year.
I appreciate your concern, but I did not choose this route without first doing extensive research.

A couple of prescription drugs I used to take have now gone OTC. Swell, now I can't use my prescription plan to get them but I can buy them at 3 to 4 times (or more) the co-pay. I have noticed that one of them is not manufactured here. The OTC generics, usually a store brand aren't either. Both of us read labels on things like this and pick USA first. If that is not a choice then go to the country we would trust the most. Very sad it has come to this.
I am thinking I will have to tell my Dr. that the OTCs aren't working, is there something else I can try? Then get back to a $10 co-pay for 90 days until that one goes OTC.

Yep, always a good idea to lie to your Dr. Especially to keep from paying your own bill to save your money.

I was not seriously thinking that. It is tempting but I wouldn't.

You missed the point entirely
By definition, anyone making 'generic Cymbalta' is breaking international law and is a counterfeiter.
Believe it or not, some of the largest pharmaceutical companies are not American. Yeah, I know. Go figure.
The difference is that a legal generic is manufactured under FDA rules, no matter where it's made. Even China has their version of the FDA.
Counterfeits are made just about anywhere. Without any rules, from who knows what. It's the 21'st centuries version of bathtub gin, but probably 100 times more dangerous.
I came across a similar story about counterfeit cigarettes. The list of identified ingredients included human excrement and ASBESTOS!
The point is that the scumbags who make counterfeit drugs do not have your best interests at heart. 700,000 people die every year from fake drugs. I don't know if that statistic includes such things as counterfeit pacemakers, coronary stents etc.
Read what Consumer Reports has to say about online Canadian pharmacies before you buy. Save money by ordering drugs from Canada? Not so fast
I buy generics when they're available, assuming that they are of similar therapeutic value. I also ask my doctor to prescribe higher dosage tablets if the pill can be safely split. Most of the time they will.
That's enough. I'll not be posting anything more on this thread. Make of it what you will and buy drugs wherever you choose.
Cheers and good luck,
Muddypaws
