I apologize in advance as I have not done a lot of looking or searching the forum......

If one does not camp host, what could one expect to pay on average to stay in a RV park / camp per month? Initially it would be in the Southwest in th fall/winter and the Northwest in the spring/summer and working our way eastward.

I'm looking to get a handle on "places to stay fees". New to this opportunity as a plan we' thought we might have has changed from what we were thinking.....

Thanks in advance,
Roy

I can only tell you what I do to check rates.

If you go to RV Park Reviews :: Home you can then go to any State you choose. On the left will be a list of cities. Click on a City you might be interested in and it will list the RV Parks and campgrounds. If the Park has a website there will be a link to it. Many of the websites post their monthly rates, some don't.

Hi, Roy

You're talking about "peak season" in both geographical locations...If you're looking for bargains you might want to reverse your schedule!
I can't advise you as to rates- but this post might "bump" your query to the active column where others can give you a better idea of what to expect.

While you wait for other replies, though: something you might elaborate on is your requirements- that is, are you looking for full-hookup situations, or roughcamping?

Francesca

Depends on what you want. In the SW in the winter you can get as cheap as free by boondocking and casino camping. There are many places available for ~$300 per month in places like Quartzsite, Parker, the Rio Grand Valley, Rockport and many other places in those areas. Or you can pay more then $1000 per month at more expensive parks.

I would say a fair average might be in the area of $550. Like the other response have seen lows of around $275 and then there is the high end. Often the lower priced places also charge for electric separately.

Hear ya there

But just getting started, figured we'd stick to the more moderate weather. Spend one winter in Eastern Montana "too many" years ago in a mobile home - one day 35 above, 2 days later 60 below and wearing a parka or wrapped in an electric blanket no thanks!!

We are looking at rigs between 36 and 40 feet and most of the time would be full-hookups until we learn more and find "rough camping" sites. We're just getting into understanding the options and possibilities. We prefer uncrowded places and places which we can explore on our street motorcycles.

TIA,
Roy

We pay from $165 per month to about $350 per month with electricity being an additional charge.
We have spent part or all of the winter in FL, TX, and AZ over the last few years.

The exception to that is when we go the NH to visit two of our kids. That is closer to $500 or more per month. Seasonal rates in NH can be cheaper but we don't want to spend the entire summer there.

Pretty much agree with what the other posters have said. In the SW desert you can find $300-$600 monthly rates with electrical on top. If you go to the coast (e.g. San Diego) plan on more like $600-$900.

Not familiar with the NW so can't comment on that.

Just to confirm what others have said - between $300 and $600, and be sure to ask about electric. If elec. not provided, figure $100/mo, and that's high but better to have money left over, hey! The NW is similar. but fewer monthly choices.

It is a good investment to spend $15-$20 on Woodalls or Trailer Life and start making phone calls. We like TL. and we like to call parks where the rating is at least a 7 on the third ranking - Environmental Quality. We also look at the site description, just to get a feel for how tight we will be. The bathroom rating is important only to tell us what priority the park puts into its public areas. This clearly isn't a scientific approach, but it works for us.

A good idea is to book a week or a month in a park that you have critically researched. Then entertain yourself by visiting the other parks in the area! You can alway move on at the end of your stay. We workamp, so we don't move but we always visit the competition for jobs or for our own long term stay. In AZ TX and FL you will always find another park with an opening.

Lots of places will have monthly rates in the SW - range ranges already sited are about right. It will be harder to find monthly rates in the northwest, but they are there. Thousand Trails has loads of parks in the NW and if you don't mind moving every couple of weeks (which isn't a bad thing during your first year so you get more of a flavor of the areas) you might want to consider the NW Zone membership.

Actually if you stay at the BLM's LTVA sites, it is $180.00 for Sept thru April....they also have trucks driving around, and for a fee, will dump ur grey and blk tanks ( $20) and others who will fill ur water tanks for a fee...never been one to stay anywhere that long tho...lol
