Oatmeal,

So ALL of the RV parks in Mesa got together and agreed to not allow Propane Tanks in and blame it on the City, and all of the propane distributors agreed to this plan?

Mesa regulations say a minimum of 10 feet from any source of ignition for filling a tank. Since the minimum distance between Park Models is 3', and that is the distance most often found between sites, you will not see any propane tank vehicle coming to sites to fill motorhomes or bottles. However, they will delivered full bottles to your site and take empties away and lots of people will install "extend-a-stay" hoses to use the bottles with their motorhomes rather than unhook. Or, like us, only use the propane for the furnace if it gets really cold and instead use electric space heaters since the price of electricity is very reasonable in Mesa under SRP.

Come on useless is such a strong word, I have found entertainment value here.

You have to admit, it's pretty funny when people who will never stay in the park with disputed laws/rules demand that the guy that does stay there prove to them that said law/rule exists. At one point we even had a conspiracy theory being postulated.

Besides the first few pages did actually provide good information of the differences of propane vs electric.

Personally I find taking the coach to get propane to be a huge PIA, I treat my propane like gold, if I can run off electric I will always do that. I have no idea f it costs more or costs less just don't want to break camp to do it.

In my whole working life I have never seen a scale used to fill a tank. Open bleed valve and pay by the gallon on the meter. Literally hundreds of tanks used to heat a warehouse full of steel over the last 45 years. This is in Washington State and have filled numerous tanks in Florida for my barbecue also without a scale. In fact have never seen one used.
Currently in an RV Park south of Seattle and only use electricity due to the .085 kWh cost. Makes no sense to use propane.

That's the way we feel. We have a 40 gal tank in the MH, so 32 gallons when full (80% of 40). That will last use about 2 years (we always try to fill up when in Centralia, WA - - for some reason it will usually be around $1.50/gallon in that area. We have thought about getting an extend-a-stay but just easier to go with electric and if it is really cold and we need heat in the basement for the wet bay, then we will run the furnace during the pre-dawn hours.

I'm so stingy with my onboard propane I buy the 1 lb cylinders to use with my grill even though I have a quick disconnect propane port on the curbside of my coach complete with 8' of hose that connects to the grill.

If I moving sites frequently I will use the onboard propane easy to top off at Flying J when I grab fuel. This trip I'm here for 6 months so too much hassle to break and go for propane.

That's not what I said. I said RV parks may have decided it's not worth the hassle--nothing about collusion, and nothing about the propane distributors.

So you agree that the regulations say there's a minimum distance in order to fill tank in an RV park, not that "motorhomes can not be filled while parked in an RV park," as you previously said.

I'm surprised that a scientist, of all people, doesn't recognize that "it's prohibited" and "it doesn't happen because of the circumstances" aren't the same thing.

I know the place you're posting about (Beydoe's as I remember), drove by there last Sunday in fact.
Present rig is all electric now so I don't pay much attention to propane prices now.

You're probably thinking of Baydo's in Chehalis (just south of Centralia). I make a point to stop there because it's pull-thru propane and it's pretty cheap and I don't like having to scour for places that can fill my motorhome.

It was $1.89/gallon in December 2017, and the dump is free with purchase (propane qualifies), or 89 cents without purchase.

Also, right on the counter they had Fresh Cab, that mouse repellent that people were having such a hard time finding, even online.

There's another RV place on the same road as Baydo's, but their propane was a few cents more and I only saw it from the street, but it looked like access wasn't as easy as Baydo's.

But I can be bought, so I checked with the Ace Hardware in Centralia, and it's $1.94/gallon right now. So it's about the same as Baydo's. The access is easy at Baydo's, plus they sometimes have free popcorn, so they get the nod unless they jack up the price, which they haven't done so far.

I really don't like having to find propane, but a few aces in the hole like this (and Bretz in Montana at 99 cents/gallon) make it a lot more tolerable.
