As a fellow full timer and receiving my mail where ever I request it to be forwarded, the process has been very simple and convenient, while in the lower 48 states. However, I'm headed for Alaska and anticipate a 2-3 month trip. My question - how/where do you receive mail while on such a trip, especially while in Canada. I assume normal procedures apply for while being in Alaska, just will take longer to get there.

It can take up to 2 weeks, or longer, for your mail to be received while in Canada.
If you have reservations at an RV park in Canada so you know when you'll be there, have mail sent to the RV park (check with them first, of course, to make sure they accept visitor mail).
Other than that, I'd wait and have mail sent to you in Tok, the first town you'll come to when you first arrive in Alaska (via road). Actually, mail to Alaska doesn't really take any longer to be received than in the lower 48.

Charles D.: G'mornin! Spent last summer in Alaska and really had no difficulty. We had it forwarded as usual to Fairbanks, Valdez, Haines, and can't recall others if any. Didn't have any forwarded while passing through Canada, but did encounter EXPENSIVE delivery a few years ago while visiting Quebec. Have a wonderful trip...you'll LOVE IT!! Steve & Lynette

I had my mail sent to Jasper on my way to Alaska in 94. Got to do a lot of fishing and even got to know the people in the post office because it took a week to get there but it was no problem just got a license to fish in the river and would stop by the small grocery store in town when I checked. After day two I would just stick my head in and they would let me know if it had showed up so I did not have to wait in line if not I went fishing.

We are fulltimers who started out from Fairbanks, AK. We have a mailbox at the "UPS Store" on the Old Steese Highway in Fairbanks. We call them and they send it wherever we want them to. We also have a friend that can pick up our mail and send it to us. The mail is sent at the same speed as the "lower 48". We just have it done once a month or two. All of our bills and banking is done over the internet. It took a good couple of years for my wife and I to get this fulltiming thing figured out before doing it. Oh,and we're always still learning something new.
Here's a little hint. The UPS Store charges you to have your mail sent to you by weight. You can tell them to throw away any and all junkmail that has a certain code on the envelope. This saves on the cost of mailing your "mail package" to you.
