I installed these today. Bough on amazon. They look very real and have a flashing red light. One is pointed towards the door and can easily be seen blinking from the front and door of the RV. Maybe worth the very small expense...

Wanderlusty - I got a little scared for you just visualizing what you described.
We do have a security system that makes a very loud noise and flashes the lights when set off. We almost never use it.
We also have a 65 pound Airedale Terrier (Frazier) who happens to be a born watch dog. He is very gentle but barks when strangers approach.
I agree with all the people on this thread that have suggested you get out of there. I would have left after the first incident.

You said you're in a park with a history of theft problems, and it is one of the best in the area? I'd hate to stay at one of the worse ones. I would be outta there so fast it would make my tires spin.

I agree with that. Security leaves a lot to be desired here....

We are about 30 minutes North of the Seattle area. Angel of the Winds is about an hour outside Seattle.

That's the problem with living in the city. It's a suburb of Seattle. Far from camping. We are trying to relocate, but we have to be within commuting distance to certain daily commitments. That puts us in harms range. Seattle is not known for fabulous law enforcement.....

I get the urge to move after the first incident, but there's more to consider.
The homeless problem in the Seattle is BAD. If you drive through on I-5, you will see a whole lot of tents under the freeways - much more than 20 years ago. It's really spread into the suburbs. A homeless community called "Tent City" has taken temporary official residence in Lake Sammamish State Park - a generally affluent area. At this private park where we are staying - even with all the problems - I would say it is safer than any of the other parks in the county. No kidding. About a year ago, we heard they closed a bunch of spaces at this park that were out of immediate sight because homeless folks took them over at night. Now they're walking trails. Granted, this place has been giving me the creeps, but with our obligations we have no better options within a one hour commute.
Law enforcement in Seattle leaves a lot to be desired and there has been a marked uptick of crime in our immediate area in the last couple years. I don't expect that to get a whole lot better soon either.
We have a commitment to this area for about one more year and then hopefully we will bounce to somewhere safer. Suggestions of places where it's safer? We are all ears!
Would also love to hear how you decide what is a safe park before you choose to stay. What criteria do you make your park pass? I would love to know.

Reading the yelp reviews I figured it out.
New Safeway across the street means the property value is going up and the owner probably either has offers or is waiting for one. Campgrounds on the edge of cities are big targets no enviormental issues and when the taxes and expenses start going up $$$$$$$$$$$$.
We made our park Non Profit saves us 20k$ in taxes a year but in the last 5 years the base sewer and water have doubled to over 2k$ a month. Can't imagine what the taxes are doing

1. Stayed at Angel of the Winds Casino and someone attempted to wedge open our outdoor TV. They didn't succeed, but the screwdriver marks remain.
2. Last several nights we have had someone rattling our door latch, but we are always locked up.
3. Last night we went to stay with a friend and it snowed. When we returned it was obvious a car had parked in front of our RV during the snowfall and did not leave until after it stopped snowing...which was in the early hours of the morning. Nothing seems to be missing, but we are creeped out!
We are in a park with a history of theft issues, but it is one of the best in this area. It has been crazy cold for us here in Washington. Homeless people do frequently use the facilities (showers and laundry).
With these strange happenings, we are concerned we need a security system. Does anyone else have a security system, cameras, or other setup that gives you some piece of mind? Would love to hear your stories and advice.

I am thinking about ordering one of these. Pretty affordable all wireless and cheap monitoring without a contract.
