My DW and I fulltine in a 2007 40' Newmar FW in Northern Colorado. At the campground we are currently in there are numerous units that have skirting, everything from cheep tarps cut to fit, plywood, stryofoam, to professional skirting. Check website "rvskitring.com". Looking at this site the cost to skirt our unit would be about $2000.00. Even if this would cut our propane useage in half I fogure it would take about 27 "Winter" months to achive payback. So my question is Is it really worth the upfront cost?

It might not make sense in dollars, but the added comfort could be worth it. I don't care for the attachtment method, the many, many, turnbuttons.

Would something like this work? If so, it would be less expensive and you could take it with you, as it is light weight.

If you were going to remain in place for months at a time then maybe it might be worth it. Maybe and might are the operative words. I am sure you could pencil and paper the pay back duration.

Strictly for aesthetics it might not be worth the set up and take down time.

With skirting the temperatures under the rig will not be any higher than outdoor temperatures unless there is heat added which makes no sense at all. Unless the skirting is installed breeze tight then even the drafts will still remain.

The best thing to do is to crawl under the rig with a can of foam insulation (bought at hardware stores) and plug each and every hole so the cold stays out and your expensive heat stays in. The next thing I would consider is to add 1" or 2" styrofoam boards or equal insulation up under the bottom of the rig if you can access it.
