Smile Soon to be Full Timers!

Hi Everyone, Hope all of you had a great summer!. We live in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Next year, we will be selling our property and making the plunge into full time R.V living. We have been spending every summer out of our 30' trailer for over 15 years and have recently purchased a new trailer. One of our questions coming up(among many) is what are people doing for internet/phone/tv service when your full time living out of your trailer. We will be spending our summer months in our trailer at our seasonal spot in Kenora, Ontario, Canada. The winter months will be spent travelling South in the warmer climates. We understand that we will be needing P.O boxes for whatever mail would be coming to us but just need a better understanding of how things work when going back and forth from Canada/States. Any information would be greatly appreciated

There are alot of canadian's that spend the winter in S. TX.. Most resorts have a mail box system that you get with your RV site and family/friends will just forward mail to them as needed.
As far as a phone, a option we use is to get a Trac-phone from Walmart and add minutes as needed for a second phone.
The local internet supplier will run cable/internet to your RV which wasn't expensive (I believe was $20/month).
Here is a resort as a example in Mission, Tx. http://missionbellrvresort.com/

As full timers, we use Dish "pay as you go" for the TV service. We have a portable Winegard dish with a 211 receiver (Tailgater is another system) and we just call in or use the dish web site to give them our current zip code to get the local channels and signal. With "pay as you go" we call by the first of the month and authorize another $30 payment for the next month which gives us the basic package. If the campground has cable available, then we don't authorize Dish for that month.

Welcome,
I will address the issues I have answers for. We live in MB just to your NE and just sold our house. I am using my sisters place for an address for License's and my Tenants insurance as we still have things in storage. MPI requires a physical address, use a kids address or siblings.
Arrange to have your bills delivered on-line.
Have your mail delivered to your address you are using for Drivers license.
For travel to US carry bank account statements, printed out to prove you are a resident of Canada and plan to come back. Also your CRA notice of assessment.
If you are staying in a park in the South inquire if they have mail boxes for rent or where to rent so you can have your mail forwarded.
We own a house in AZ so have a permanent address to forward mail to.
We spend our summers mostly in Saskatchewan as part time work is still appealing.
As we have a permanent site in SK I have internet installed there.
TV is Shaw for us, new to us MH has a new Shaw automatic dish for TV.
We use our cell phones for internet when travelling.

Hope this answers some questions.
Enjoy your upcoming lifestyle change.

Terry & Pat

Thank you for the valuable info. We plan on using our kids residence here for our address. As far as down south go's, we will be doing some sightseeing to decide as to where our permanent address will be so as you suggested, will be getting permission to have mail directed to wherever we happen to be at. We currently have Shaw direct for our TV, MTS for our phone. The internet has us a little concerned as we need to have that service for my wife and her work
Thank you very much for the information!
