States with income tax based on residency?

Brother winters in AZ. Says he has to be there at least one day less than 6 months or AZ will go after him for AZ income tax. I've not personally verified but he's pretty "up" on things like this.

Yes, this is my understanding of AZ too. They have a 6-month rule. I know several folks who winter there regularly (some even own lots) but they always stay below the 6 month limit for exactly this reason. We spent ~3 months there this winter ourselves.
