DW and I will finally be returning to school this fall, over in Missoula, MT, and will be full-timing while doing so. I seem to be having difficulties finding a spot to park our MH.

Our current spot here in Bozeman we found by placing ads on Craigslist. I received multiple replies to it, but as yet have only received one reply to the ones for Missoula, and it is a 30 mile commute to Missoula. We'd like to find something closer than that, if possible.

Any tips on finding spots? I have thought about an ad in the local newspaper there, but that would cost around $90. We are moving there in mid-August, and I would like to find something well beforehand, so it will be one less thing to worry about.

Any ideas or tips would be much appreciated!

Leave early some morning and drive over there. Stop at RV places and ask. Stop at the local diners and ask. Drive around and look. Use the local yellow pages. Spend the day and I bet you will find your spot.

Might even try a couple of Real Estate agents. They should have an idea or two wants going on around their area.

I just googled "Camping Missoula MT" and found many websites that have listings for campgrounds in Missoula. I'd start there, no gas, not much time wasted.

Price-wise, I am trying to find private property to park on. That and it would be nice to find an unused garage to work in and park it outside.

I haven't ruled out the few campgrounds in the area or mobile home parks, but I'm looking for other options first.

Didn't I just read this question on another thread? Jim & Mary's for a month and then look and ask around. Someone might know something once school opens up.

Haha yes. On rvforum. I try to be active on both sites, and asking on both presents itself to more people, therefor, more opinions.

Hardest part will be justifying the rates until winter rates kick in while we look around. Won't have employment when we first move, only DW's disability, which would take almost all of that to cover the cost at Jim and Mary's.

Then add in insurance, gas for commuting to school and back, food, phone bill, etc etc.

I pay less in a month for the current spot we have in Bozeman than I would in a week at an RV park. And I have access to water, electric and sewer. Too bad this guy doesn't live in Missoula lol

My apologies if any are needed. I try to stay active on four sites and have been known to make a multiple site posting or two.

I admire you for going back to school. I would love to join you. Thought about it here but $400 per credit is a bit difficult to justify when I was paying $89 per quarter back when.

Still think you should bite the bullet and start the quarter or semester at J & M's and then start putting the word out on campus. You mean to tell me there is not one forestry major who is not living in a V.W. micro bus somewhere? I would even check the off campus housing office if they have one. What the park would cost you short term might be made up by savings from the commute.

If possible we choose to stay at mobile home parks, the older ones usually have a few spots for RV's after pulling out an ageing mobile home. 55 plus parks are usually very reasonable, we are currently in Oregon at a place that charges 433.00 per month including everything, water, sewer, electric. now mind you...Oregon has been the garden spot in America this year weather wise..haven't seen 80 degrees yet, so the electric use is low. we actually use the electric heater on our A/C in the morning, it's chilly at 50 degrees each morning.
