Taking off!
I have been touring in my van for years but finally sold everything and taking off full time in my new {to me!} 82 Chevy terra van turtle top. I am traveling with my partner and our 1 year old son. As we are gearing up to leave in the next couple weeks, what should I be bringing? We are planning to mostly boondock as we have been used to traveling and tent camping for months at a time. What are some items I'm likely to forget but will be most thankful to have? Thanks in advance!

Wow! I am impressed. I won't hardly take my 2 year old son to the grocery store! My 5 year old son on the other hand is a lot of fun to take camping we go just the two of us when we can. I plan to go FT in a few years when my youngest is a little more human a little less monkey! Bring lots of diapers is my suggestion! No, but really, I am curious about your plans and motivation for this journey, tell me more !

Don't take much, you won't really need much. As many of us have found out, two coffee cups and a bag of paper plates works just fine
All teasing aside, if you are boondocking a lot, if you get your hands on a solar panel either roof mounted or one you can lay out in the sun, you will probably find that useful.
I'm not sure how your van (which sounds a bit like the mystery machine to me) is configured. I'll have to look one up cause it sounds cool.
Where ya headed first?

Lay out all the stuff you think you'll need. Leave half behind. After a year, pile up everything didn't use. Give the pile to Goodwill. Repeat annually.

We use cloth diapers and I have a portable washer and fold out PVC drying rack in the back. I have a wind turbine that runs my fridge and solar and battery to charge my batteries for power. Baby has grown up in the mystery machine since he was 4 days old

Sounds cool... you DEFINITELY qualify as an RV mutant.
I'm positive you will run into some of us out there.

you should be! It's called living free man, and I'm all for it! Campdaven would love you two! You'll stroll across him one day... look out, he's a hoot.

Nomads- with a babe in diapers, I would say Time and Patience! But you probably already knew that!
Take less than you think, you can always get what you need.....
Have fun.
