The last few weeks has been a flurry of activity. Once we had our home ready for sale I sent an email to a gentleman that had expressed some interest in it over a year ago. He was there the next morning and we had a deal struck within a couple days. He wanted to take possession, however, before the Labor Day weekend. We had two weeks to divest ourselves of 37 years of 'stuff' and prep the motor home as a full time residence. The buyer wanted much of the furniture, which with some family pieces excepted, we were good with. Family took other items, we had a big garage sale this weekend, and this morning we took what remained to Goodwill. Pretty much everything we own is now stored someplace in the motor home, with the exception of one 'classic' car being stored at my brother-in-laws garage (not the time of year to sell a convertible).

In spite of the fact we've dreamed of this and have worked toward our goal for decades, it's still a weird feeling having no stick and brick 'anchor' to return to after our latest RV adventure.

There's no turning back now.

See you on the road.

Congrats! No more winters in cold, snowy WI. Now, get out there & see the USA in your Chevrol....um, I mean Revolution (well, it kinda works, Chevrolet's logo used to be" An American Revolution" ). Be safe out there.

I had no problem whatsoever becoming a fulltimer.

However, my exit strategy was much more difficult as I had no exit strategy and made it up as I went along.

Congratulations, we are 6 months behind you! I too am committed to selling the S&B, but that doesn't mean that I am not nervous. Change is hard and you are making a big one. But like you, I am sure that I will look at it as the best move I have ever made. Especially with your new Revolution, what a great coach. Good luck

Wish I could be at the rally. I've got obligations here in October and didn't want to make the extra trip out and back just before I'd be heading 'out' again, to South Carolina, where I'll be spending November before heading to Florida for a few months. You all be sure to post plenty of stories and PHOTOS of the rally for the rest of us.

You're a fulltimer now. Put some rubber on the road, man! That's why the thing has wheels.

  1. Hey, the tough part is behind you. Selling the house and getting rid of years of "stuff" is very emotional. Now is the new adventure. We closed on our house sale in Milwaukee in early Oct, then stayed in State Fair Park while we finished up at our jobs. That gave us a little time to say goodbye to friends, live in the rig in familiar terrain, be near the dealer. A hint: fulltiming isn't completely like what you imagine. There will be a few times you say "what was I thinking!!". You have a great road ahead of you, have fun, go with the flow.

Congratulations, I'm really, really jealous. Be safe, be adventurous, stay healthy and you'll wind up a happy (full time) Camper. Gonna call you "Gypsy" now.

It's not the size of the tank, it's the credit limit on the CC that's important ....especially when you fill up a 75, 80 or 100 gallon tank. Am I right?

Congrats on your situation. I sure wish we could be as lucky. Only a couple of weeks left here until we have to return home but the wife could care less if we ever see the place again. Unfortunately it isn't that easy. Sure wish the market was good in S.E. Michigan but homes in our neighborhood for sale (which ther are plenty) just remain that FOR SALE. How do I know? Just checking with a friend in the real estate market gives us all the bad news we need. Well anyway hope you find the new life great, get out there and enjoy yourselves. That's what it's all about now. Hopefully, maybe in the near future we can join you lucky ones.

Jay,

We're just a sale of the house away from running into you folks somewhere out there. We're headed to FL in October (Bowling Green).

I get anxious when hearing about those like you that have already made it.

Dave
