Types Of Full Timers

I have observed that there are several types of full timers.
1) Lives in one spot all the time.
2) Moves maby 4 times per year.
3) Moves a lot but tends to light for periods of up to a month.
4) Always on the move but might light for a month once per year.

I am a #4. There is nothing wrong with any choice you have made for your lifestyle. As I get older I probably will slow down some. I just can't seem to get enough of this big wide wonderful country of ours. We (dog & me ) have even been to Prudhoe Bay (Deadhorse), AK. The Dalton Highway was an adventure in itself. If you are a traveler, DO see Alaska. Driving to AK was part of the adventure.

One thing is for sure. You can control your living costs as a full timer much better than when living in a stix and brix.

The other thing for sure is that no matter where you live maintenance is ever present.

G'mornin Ralph & Snickers!!

Yup, we're a "#3" type, and, so far, have been since 2005. Still haven't had the slightest urge to return to sticks & bricks living, although, we suppose that some day it'll have to be.

We spent summer of 07 up in the Yukon & Alaska and it sure was wonderful. Didn't travel to Prudhoe nor up to Innuvik when in Dawson, but that sure would have been an adventure. Did ya take just your Chevy up to Prudhoe, or your whole rig?? Anyway, we sure plan to return up there.

You're right about the "maintenance" thing, we do have to keep checking, tweaking and tightening stuff, but, what the heck.

Enjoy your travels.

We are #5.

Stays in one park during winter months, and rarely in a park more than one week during the summer months.

Ditto on #5. Spent the winter in FL, on the move 8 or 9 months a year.

We started out as #3 but are #2s now. Of course some of our moves between our two or three month stops are a month or so long.

We are closest to #2. We park host in the winter in So Calif and have been park hosting the past 3 summers in Montana. This summer we are in Nevada. Between jobs we usually travel for 4-6 weeks, just mosey around wherever we feel like going. Would love to travel more, next summer we are taking the summer off and going to the east coast. Plans set in jello after that.

Still too soon to tell for us since we've only been full timing since Sept of last year but I suspect we'll move from a 3 to a 2 over the next few years.

Chickadee,

I took the whole rig only 60 miles up the Dalton H'wy. I have a gas truck and I would never have made it without running out of gas even carrying an extra 20 gal. I left the 5er at a BLM CG 2 miles N. of the Yukon river and just took the truck to Prudhoe (Deadhorse).

I left Montana the second week of May. Took a week to get to AK. I returned to WA state the third week of Sept. Of course I picked the year that gas prices were the highest. In the wilderness of the Yukon Terr. I paid $7.00 per gal. I AM WORTH IT !!!!! It was something I have wanted to do most of my life and it turned out to be far beyond my expectations. The trip itself was all part of the adventure and you should drive all the way at least once.

As a full timer it is just parking my house here and there. Home is where you park it. Just do not forget where you did park it.

A #1 here With full time job and life in one place. Eventually once money and more flexible work situation We will move on to one of the other numbers.

Maybe at least move being a #1 to a different location maybe even different state.
We would like to end up travelling around this fine country taking in the sights , may have to upgrade the home on wheels for that one.

I sort of fluctuate between #2 and #3 -- it all depends on my workamping jobs.

We are a #3 working toward a #2. Going to go and see as much as we can now while we can.
