I would check out coast to coast or RPI, there is an initial expense but campgrounds are 10 to 14 dollars a day ( 14 day max) with many locations across the country. We average 300 to 450 per month by combining RPI. Passport America, Escapees and boondocking. We have been on the road since 2011. You will find by slowing down you save money, we average 3 to 4 thousand miles per year. I would not attempt to full time and pay the "rack rate" of 30 to 60 dollars a day...no way. Also if you find a place you like stay a month, monthly rates are much lower. 300 to 400 per month are common.

Use Thousand Trails zone pass for a year to see if memberships park are for you. We use them extensively all summer (TT, C2C, ROD, AOR) and often go months at a time with no out-of-pocket expenses for site.

C2C = Coast-to-Coast
ROD = Resorts of Distinction
AOR = Adventure Outdoor Resorts
I did a page on our blog that might help: Membership parks

I agree, I don't plan on leaving much if I can help it! Now I need to get busy and spend it!

When wife and I went Full Time we had a tight budget. It was a struggle, In fact, a simple emergency like a dead towed car (We were in a Class A) and .. no money to replace it.. So I did not.
Then our budget improved ... And we got a new used towed, but before I could get the baseplate installed wife lost control while following me to a different campground and.. No towed and no wife... I've since gotten a new towed. But blew the engine in the motor home.. Will fix that later this week if all goes well, next week if it takes longer than planned.
(Originally upset over blown engine I now kno it may well have saved my life, but that's a political hot topic so I won't discuss it here)
Still looking for a replacement co-pilot though.
Recommendation: budget for emergencies as well, Try to have at least 1,000 "Cushion" And a "emergency" insurance policy.. When I pull out of the shop, baring serious over runs on the repairs, I'll have at least 1,000 in credit that can call upon, plus another 1,000 in short term credit, plus a 1,000 deductable break down insurance policy.. I'm not going to pay for another engine out of pocket.

Wa8yxm....... what a story
It's easy to read into some of the responses you see. I think we all learn from others experiences and information.
When I read wa8yxm's story, it was like wow.... leaves you speechless.

Here are some of the numbers we came up with over 5 months
We were in our MH for 5 months this past year. I did save and tabulate all of our receipts.
We were in a total of 5 Campgrounds - Cost avg $473 a month.
Cell phone for the two of us avg $130 mo
Fuel Diesel and Reg avg $ 210 mo
Our food costs including eating out avg $170
Other vehicle expenses (tags) avg $80 mo
Storage was $150 mo
Misc: RX, Medical, Clothes, Maintenance avg $230 mo
That is as close to our actual spending snapshot as I can give you. If you see something I should consider let me know.
I am thinking we might be able to trim on the cell phone, need to shop around some Also that Campground spending ended up being lower than I expected so that is a bonus.

I don't see how it's possible for food costs of $170 / mo. Is that a weekly cost?

Thats close to our expenses..
Ours went down on food as I bit the bullit and put in a gas cooktop with a gas oven....
(Didn't like the DW on a stepstool trying to lift a hot casserole dish out of the convection/microwave oven)
We do a lot of casserole,roasts & cheep to make dinners that have several days of consumption, also have a 100# chest deepfreeze in the cargo bay that I try to keep full of fish and game.. really cuts down on the monthly costs for food.

My wife agrees with you Randy
Randy,
The DW agrees with you that I missed some of the receipts on our eating out. It is possible I could have. We were in one campground the longest 4 months and had a portable gas grill set up. I did most of the cooking and used it every day the majority of the time. And since we had F/T neighbors next to us, they occasionally brought us over food. They even cleaned out their freezer and brought us over a lot. More than anything, I believe if my food $$ are off, it was when D/W purchased groceries and I did not get the receipt. I did not pursue checking bank statements against my receipts so it is possible my numbers are off.
Our camping expenses I am sure would go up when we winter in the south unless we get a C2C &/or a TT. Leaning in that direction.
