We're Officially Texans

Dan McMartin, welcome to Texas and may your stay be wonderful. Rightly so moderator deleted some posts. But please allow me to share a conversation I had when I met my future MIL and driving to church. Hopefully you will find it as funny as I did.

MIL: Were you born in Texas
Me: No but my parents, brother and sister were. I was born 4 miles across state line.
MIL: Don't count!

I have never forgotten those words and after about 25 years I still tell people I'm from New Mexico but happy to live in Texas. Many say not Texan but got here as quickly as I could.

All of us are proud of state we call home and in my mind they are all equal, and that's what makes us the United States of America. Of course we will always jab at each other for fun.

My wife was born in California and moved here when she was 6. I always tease her she's not a real Nevadan.

Moved here in 1978 and was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The people—well most of the people—here are fantastic, friendly, patriotic, down to earth and....well I could go on and on. Especially when you get out of the big cities.

Certainly nicer folks than those ol' cranky farts that live out west in AZ.
