What do fulltimers do during the Holidays?
Now that the holiday season is approaching us, I wonder what full-time travelers do during the holidays?
Thanks, and happy holidays,
James

I'd camp on someone's doorstep that needed some tales of harrowing expererinces to enliven the boring humdrum, hectic season that will soon be upon us all. It would greatly help if they had room on their driveway that I could plug into, and a spare room, and that they were excellent cooks, and had a well stocked wine cellar in exchange!

Decorate the RV, make holiday dinners, invite other RVers over to join us....
We usually stay in a single spot Nov & Dec (so, take a monthly rate somewhere) and will get into the holiday spirit together w/ everyone else. Not too hung up on Thanksgiving (I'm not American so never celebrated it before coming here), but I LOVE Christmas. Have a box of special Christmas decoration in the rig just for that time of year.

I would guess that full-timers celebrate the holidays either with other RVers or family.
In any case that is what we plan to do starting next year.

Last year we had our holiday meals with fellow volunteers at Kartchner Caverns State Park in AZ. It was a wonderful holiday potluck meal. There were over 50 of us at Thanksgiving. This year we are planning on going out to dinner with co-volunteers. There is only the 4 of us at the refuge we are volunteering at this year. We'll be on the road at Christmas and I'm thinking we'll do dinner and a movie.

There are lots of options. Many campgrounds, especially in snowbird areas, have dinners. They frequently provide the main course for a small fee, and guests bring a covered dish to share.
Some full-timers get together with one or two other couples to share a meal in one of their rigs or at the picnic table.
We leave our rig in snowbird country and drive home to stay with our daughter for a few days around the holidays. It's a long drive, but we like to be around family.
There are also lots of volunteer opportunities at soup kitchens and rescue missions for the holidays if you want to serve others who are less fortunate.

My sisters both live in Wichita, KS so we will spend Thanksgiving with them this year. We will spend Christmas and New Years in TX with friends. Where we stay in TX has numerous outings and dinners for their Winter Texan guests.

Now that we full time, we enjoy them even more!
Why? Because we have the time to savor each momment of each one. Thanksgiving morning, we actully watch the parade rather than rushing around the house with last minute preparations.
A prepared meal from a supermarket covers all the food and is cooked to perfection.

We installed a 50 amp service at our daughters house, so we usually stay there Nov/Dec so that we can celebrate the holidays with all the family. We still have young grandchildren. We have a small tree we put on the dash, and I put our decorations throughout the MH. Any other holidays we try and share meals with other folks in the campground we happen to be in.
