What's the best public library for full-timers?

I've been full-timing for almost two years now and still make do with my Broward County Library card and online access to the e-books available from my county library but their selection is limited and I travel all over the country so I was wondering, what library can I and should I join?

I'm looking to join a library that meets three criteria:
  1. Has easy to use online access.
  2. A large selection of e-books available to borrow.
  3. Doesn't have overly restrictive residency requirements.
The residency requirements concern me because I realize these libraries are publicly funded and I don't want to use the public resources without contributing to the local tax base. I wouldn't mind paying a fee to join the library or even make a donation to help them out. If I regularly travel to an area, I'd consider myself eligible.

Any suggestions are welcome.

You can go to ANY public library and use their resources while THERE

You can not check books etc out as you do not have a library card and can not get one cause you aren't a resident.

During our 7 yrs of FT travel we used numerous public libraries but had to do so on site.

What's the best public library for full-timers?

I like to visit local libraries. It's a way to get to know a town, maybe meet a few folks, etc. Due to space constraints my wife and I do both use Kindles in the coach- she a great deal more than I. I still prefer the feel and heft of a good hardbound tome in my hands.

But of course the size and funding of local libraries vary, and with them the level and degree of comprehensive coverage. But we've found the staffs to be universally passionate and helpful about their little corners of the world!

If your interest and preference runs toward online access to multiple media, there's not much that can compete with Amazon Prime. For an annual fee you get access to a practically unlimited array of ebooks, audio books, music, movies, TV shows, etc., etc., all of it downloadable, a great deal of it free and most of the rest very cheap. Plus of course the shopping advantages with Amazon, should you care to avail yourself of them.

Good Luck--- and Happy 2016!!

I am not out on the road so I have access to my local library but Irecently discovered an app called OverDrive that lets me check out books and more online. So far the only downside I see is that you have to wait until the books become available, It's worth checking out if you have a home town library to sign up through. I also use Bookbub for lots of free books. They send me an email every day and I just download whatever books I like. I have a backlog of books to read and if I start one that I don't like, I just delete it. Since I haven't paid for it, it's no loss.

There are book swap rooms at every commercial park we have been to. Between that and the huge realm of free books available on Kindle, if we did nothing but read, we would never need to leave camp.

+1. I use OverDrive via my former hometown library for audiobooks as they're a great way to pass the drive. I may sure to re-up my membership right before I sold my house, so I'm good for a couple more years. Once that goes, I'll probably use a former neighbor for access. I also frequent local libraries if I don't have wifi where I'm camped.

Bookbub.com is a good source of free or inexpensive ($.99) e-books from independent authors. I know that doesn't help if you're looking to read specific books by known authors, but if you're just looking for good reads, you can download all kinds of books from bookbub. DW had hundreds of books on her iPad and Kindle waiting to be read.

Bookbub and Kindle. Of course, newer Kindle books are no longer cheap.
