Who are the youngest fulltimers? What do you do for money?

My wife and I are 35. We are in the process of buying a diesel pusher for full time use. We don't have kids and don't plan to.
We are product designers and are working freelance on contract at the moment. We hope to extend the contract in the future but will need to diversify
Our income sources to maintain our lifestyle.

What have you found as a good way tools real income on the road?

We can always look for a cubicle job and park the rv if we have to, but we for want to

I am 46 and Thom is 48. According to the doctor I am not allowed to work, but I do have 60% VA disability. Thom is an engineer working with robotic vehicles. For now we are parked but we are tracing an electrical problem and then we are back on the road.

Robotic vehicles sounds cools.

Are these for military applications? Like the irobot units?

I'm an industrial designer, not and engineer. But I know just enough engineering to get me into trouble. I've always been interested in robotics.

He is working for Northrop Grumman right now so yes right now it's military. He's done the job from one end of the US to the other and one end of Canada to the other.

Funny thing thou, he's one of very few working on the stuff that only has an assciates degree. He's just picked up all his knowledge from his previous jobs and as he'll tell you "machines talk to me". He's the one that they go to when no one else can figure out problems. The others say "If it's [moderator edit] up then get Thom, he'll fix it". He's also the one that they allow to have blue or green or magenta hair. He's gone in dressed as a pirate on Sept 19th before (talk like a pirate day). He does his job and if they want him to look at anything else that's broke he does. He does not say "It's not in my job description" so they allow him to get away with a few things that most just don't try to do.

We are just over 40 and fulltimers for 4 years. Hubby is a fulltime investor and we've been living primarily off that income. I'm a writer and photographer and make a bit of money that way. We moderate costs by boondocking and workamping part of the year. We're happy with our situation, make enough to fulfill our needs and even add onto savings each year.

Most of the young folks we meet do a mix of online work, and many will workamp part of the year to moderate costs. We've met some artists and jewelry makers too. Many sell on etsy.

Just as an FYI - Social Security Disability is not SSI

It is disability pay for those who have worked long enough to have paid into the system and now their doctors find, and Soc Sec agrees, they are unable to do work of any kind.

SSI stands for Supplemental Security Income and is for those found unable to work, but who have not worked enough to have an account that qualifies to draw Soc Sec Disability. It is funded separately from Social Security, don't ask how because then I'd have to look it up and you might not like the answer anyway! The government cannot give something to someone that it has not already taken from someone else.

For seven years on the road I worked a normal job doing customer support and management for web hosting companies. It worked very well with the lifestyle and allowed me to travel all over the USA wherever I could find an internet connection. I have even worked from the middle of the Everglades, out in the Florida Keys, in the desert, in my son's driveway, on top of a mountain in my cousins front yard, in an amusement park, etc. Now that I'm not so keen on so much driving, I'm gate guarding in Texas in my RV but I still get to move around and sightsee in between gates.

I'm 30, girlfriend 27, no kids, 1 puppy. We've been FT'ing for 12 months. I manage various real estate related investment funds. The business was already established over 3 years when we left and I had it setup 100% remote (phone/email), and generally, nothing requires immediate attention that I have to be at my desk/phone all day.

We've met many younger families still working, and most are self employed, and have structured things to be virtual. Web designers, consultants, writiers/photographers, etc.

Haven't had any issues so far other than the occasional delay if someone sends us physical mail that needs to be forwarded.
