Winter in Florida?

We have just finished our first year of full time adventure. This winter we tried Texas and AZ. Next winter we would like to try Florida.

Anyone have any recommendations for the west coast of Florida? We are thinking somewhere between Ft. Myers and Naples.

Resonably close to the beach and a good winter activity schedule. Probably a 3-4 month stay.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Go to the "Need Campground Information" forum and scroll through the pages or use the search button at the top of the page and look for "Florida" or "Florida Campgrounds." You will find several recent discussions of campgrounds in various locations around Florida.

We did something similar to what you did - our first year of full-timing, we spent a month in Florida, a month in Arizona (with a week in Southern California), and a month in south Texas. We went back to Florida the past 2 years. Although Texas and Arizona are less expensive than Florida, we found we like Florida better.

We also found the farther south you go in Florida and the closer you get to the Atlantic or the Gulf, the more expensive the campgrounds get. For that reason, we stay in central Florida. We are 1 to 1 1/2 hours from either coast, and we make frequent sightseeing day trips.

Over the past 3 winters we have worked our down to Dover, FL and stayed at Tampa East for anywhere from 5 months the first year, than worked our way up to Newmar factory than back to our home base for a few months. Took week here, week there with Grand kids.
Than 3 months the next year than worked our way across to Texas for 2 months than up to the factory and than back east and picked up 2 Grandkids for 6 weeks and 3 rallies with them and than home base 3 weeks. this past year 2 months in Fl, than over to Texas for 1 month than NM and AZ down to Rocky Point, Mexico, AZ for 2 wks, and now in California.
We had a great site in Tampa East each time we were there, but check with Chickadee as they stayed there this year after we left.
Don't know if we will do FL in fall as we have freinds who live in Cody, WY and may do the canyons of UT & CO before the snow starts. Not sure where we will winter.
