Working on the Road

Was my post deleted?

I hope you full timers can give me an input on this topic!
Thanks!

My wife and I most definitely are planning to be full timers in the near future but trying to figure out how we will be able to make a steady income while on the road.

We are not computer programmers, which I've noticed a lot of people do this while on the road.

Can any of you give us an idea on where we can search? Not jobs clicking ads all day...

Real legitimate jobs with companies that give the privilege of working while on the road. We will have Internet so that won't be an issue.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing back from all of you!

No, you have two threads going on the same subject though, the other is titled "Jobs on the road", it's in the Class A forum.

I guess I don't know how it works. Because not all full timers have class A, which is why I posted separately.

There are quite a few articles about this on the web. Obviously, your skill set is the major factor. I would think most "real", forty hour week jobs would tend to be computer related, not much else is portable?? I dunno... thinking out loud. Not sure if jobs like work camping, following the harvest, gate guards, nursing, etc. fit in your definition of a real job.

Depending on your definition of Full Timing, any job I guess could be done from the road. I.e. things like construction or nursing with short term contracts (three months here, a month there...) can be done from an RV. However, obviously that wouldn't give the flexibility to go where you want, when you want. That kind of freedom is only available to jobs that are highly transient (i.e. day laborer type stuff) or work that is already suitable for teleworking. That, by it's very nature is going to be IT type work. One possibility is phone work, such as tech support, but I'm not sure how many companies are still trying to go down that route. I know a company I used to work for tried it, then very quickly abandoned it, due to too many management issues.

What is your skill set/what industry have you previously worked in?

Many folks don't stay in one place. They travel where the jobs are. Around the holidays Amazon and Sees Candy are popular ones. Some manage Christmas tree lots or pumpkin patchs. Many RV parks need help in maintenance or the office. The national forest service and the Corps of Engineer campgrounds always need help. The concessioniers in the national parks are another option. There are many opportunities out there. You won't get rich but you can easily live good if RVing is your dream. Good luck!
