We worked 3 years (April thru Oct) at a CA RV park.

We had a free site & free propane + CA minimum wage for all hours worked.

On average we worked about 3.5 days per week. It varied. A good job.

We camp hosted in CA at Prairie Creek Redwoods State/National Park and at Humbolt Redwoods State Park during the summer 2015. The parks wanted a 3 month gig, so we negotiated 6 weeks at the 2 different parks. In CA, a finger print back ground check is required at a $20 cost to the volunteer. It was a great experience spending 6 weeks under the big trees with our motorcycle.

We want the $$ so we dont work for free, nor for site only. I avoid any payment for site, but the idea seems the same. We go north in the summer and south in the winter. General, dont have any trouble finding work.

We work the sugar beet harvest and run a christmas tree lot for our 2 paid jobs. Those 2 jobs pay enough $$ that we can volunteer the other 10 months of the year and not touch our savings.

We recently took the rig up into the mountains near Boon NC. Went to the Highland Games on Grandfather Mountain! WOW that was an experience Learning the curves! Anyway,, notice much of the farming in that area is Christmas Trees! Thanks for posting!

We have volunteered as park hosts for part of the year each year we've been fulltiming (12 years). All state parks need volunteers, are short of $$ and happy to have you. All of them have websites that list volunteer opportunities. You can also choose the are you want to be in then call the ranger office to see if there are open positions. We have volunteered in CA, NV, MT and NC, all positive experiences. We've taken 2 paid positions and would not return to either, not a bad experience, they just expect more when they are paying you and expect more hours (just our experience). We finished a 3 year contract job with the Corps of Engineers in the fall of 2017 and would not do that again, too many hours and no flexibility with your schedule for 7 months. I would volunteer with the Corps, they have volunteer positions also. You have to pay to get jobs through Workamper news. Look at workampingjobs.com or volunteer.gov for federal volunteer positions. It's a great way to spend time in an area you haven't been in before
