1st time boondocking-ameristar casino Kansas city

we did it! First time boondocking and it went great. Pulled into the Ameristar Casino they have a huge oversized lot at the back really well lit. Most trucks pull into the gravel area bu on the far end is a paved area. We were with two other rvs. The casino is nice lots of places to eat. Easy on/off if you're going I70

Congratulations! The first time is the hardest. After that, easy peasy. Just use common sense (if it doesn't feel right...move on down the road) and you will do just great.

Love it! Congrats! Somewhat near Topeka, where I grew up!

I stayed there a couple times for a week or so (with permission from their security department). I stayed back in the area far away from the casino with the big rigs. There were some nights with a great many trucks--maybe 50 or more!--that were miserable with their engines idling right outside my window all night long. Earplugs helped.

White noise generator in the bedroom cures all outside noise. Best thing ever. If not available, turning the AC fan to low works pretty good to.

I've never used a white noise generator. I would be interested to try one out. It would suprise me, however, that adding more noise on top of an idling big rig parked 15 feet away would make it easier to sleep... but stranger things have happened

I don't think that running the A/C fan would be an option without shore power (the OP was about dry camping). It wouldn't be on the 12 volt circuit and even if it was or if it was hooked up to an inverter there probably wouldn't be enough battery capacity to keep it running very long.

I use a 12v Endless Breeze box fan by Fantastic Fan. Draws 1.3 D.C. Amps per hour but it does dampen some outside noise.
