Boondock spot off I 90 in SD
Anyone know of a place to boondock overnight on I 90 in South Dakota between Mitchell and Rapid City. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks rocking, Cabela's is all we were aware of also. We have stopped at the Mitchell Cabela's in the past which is also very nice with 31 RV parking space's.

There are many places along that stretch of I-90. Many rest areas to stop for the night.
Here's one across from the Al's Oasis in Oacoma SD with large RV parking spots.

There is a spot 6 miles straight south of Wall. Have been there many times. Look for the radio towers to the east off the highway. There is a service road that goes up to them. Just stay on the service road that runs along the bluffs and you can camp anywhere along the road. It is national grassland. Just be aware the road is not always maintained. One of the nicest views in the state!!
This spot is approx. 1 mile north from the entrance to the badlands.

Jay, that sounds like a good spot. Not sure I would want to try that road with a 43 foot coach and toad.

Stayed at the Mitchell Cabela's SD last night. Also stayed at the Cabela's in Rapid City the night before. Was going to stay at the Walmart in Spearfish SD but they had a no overnight parking sign up. At another Walmart in Iowa tonight that had "no overnight" parking signs up. Asked the manager and he said it was fine, just park near the edge.
By the way. The Iowa Visitor Center at I-35 by the Northern border with Minnesota has a free dump station. Soon as you pull into the truck / RV lot it is on your left.

Overnight
It might be a little further then you were thinking but we spent the night at the Reservoir near Belle Fourche, SD. Set up near the water, beautiful spot and very quiet.

We have stayed there in the past, but did not want to venture that far off I 90 this trip.

Cabala's three nights ago in Rapid City...against city ordinance, but Cabella's is OK and the cops don't seem to come around...be respectful,no wings, BBQs, lawn chairs out...this isn't you free alternative for a week's visit to the Black Hills...JMHO
