Just got back from Ft. Wilderness. Not cheap, but a very high quality experience for us. We watch our pennies but felt we got what we paid for. And by staying there you are treated as a resort guest & get early park access, free transportation, etc. I was initially skeptical, but would definitely go again.

heres how i get a last minute reservation at fr wilderness. every day at 4 pm eastern time, disney computers dump all their cancellations back into the system. start calling at exactly 4 pm eastern. dont stop till you get a representative. if there is only one night during the time you want, take it, and have them put you on a list for the other nights. call every day at 4 pm, and ask for the additional days you need. it normally takes me two or three tries, but i have gotten my reservation confirmed for the full time i wanted. that starting trying within a week of my arrival date.

Disney option

we were in the area when my daughter played softball and stayed at Lake Lousia state park. I think around $24 a night , very clean and would be a good safe option that's about a 20 minute drive to the parks.

First let me begin by saying I'm a Disney NUT...(and my kid works there!) anyway... Yes you will be towed out of any theme park - parking lot, yes reservation for "the Fort" are hard to come by... not only because so many people wish to camp there, but word on the internet is people book "throwaway" reservations there. Book one night at a campsite - with no intention to use it - book dining, fast passes, etc. then cancel at the last possible second or during busy season not at all... tricky little loop hole... I'm heading there in March during the Spring break madness... wish me luck... sigh...
