I always put out all three slides every time I stop for the night.

The only place in our coach that we cannot use or easily get to with the slides closed are the dresser drawers at the foot of the bed and the closet without climbing over the bed. At my age I am not into climbing over beds or inconvenienced by not having clean clothes in the morning

I always pick out parking spots where when the two larger roadside slides are out they will NOT be a hindrance to passing vehicles. Usually it is along the rear edge of the parking lot. The curbside slide, kitchen, is quite shallow so that goes out without worry.

Use some common sense and logic when parking and using slides and you will never have any problems.

One of the 5th wheels I am looking at you would have to open at least 3 of the slides. 1 to get into the unit, a second to use the kitchen, and the 3rd if you wanted sleep.
For us that would be an automatic no sale. It would also be a clue that I should not be at Walmart and would probably have problems in a lot of campgrounds.

We have stayed at Walmarts and Cabelas probably 5 times; it is never our first choice. We also have a trailer that is only comfortable when the slide is out. It is doable with slide in, but uncomfortable. When we stay we always position the unit so the slide is not in a driving area, either over the outside edge of the lot or a parking strip. With slides on two sides, you just have to open up into parking or driving space. If I had a unit like that I would definitely carry two large reflective cones and position them on each side of the slide that extends into the "danger" zone.

I think it is lovely for those folks who don't have to open slides to lecture those who do, but it isn't very helpful. Even with my slide out I take up only a couple of feet more than a big semi, and I am shorter even when I leave the truck connected. If you are off to the side in a mostly empty parking lot (which is where you should be), you aren't going to be a bother to the company letting you park. I even (horrors!) put down my stabilizers, assuming the asphalt isn't so hot that I would make an indentation.

I would not buy that floorplan. There are too many available options that allow access to a bed/sofa and bathroom without opening a slide. You may have to squeeze, but you can get there.

If not, the designer failed.

There is a class A MH sitting in the Rib Mountain, WI Walmart parking lot and has been there for almost three months. Was moved once, and the car trailer is now gone.
Our assumption is serious medical issues and that Walmart is gracious enough to permit the coach sitting there.
Our local truck stop was torn up and replaced by retail business so no place for truckers to park so they now come to Walmart.
Great older store but civic minded!! Please patronize if in the area.

NO, I'm not associated--even live miles away.

This has been posted many times but we always seem to want to
discuss it and "get permission from other RVers".
We all know about the no slides, no jacks, etc. but some
people think rules are made for other people.

The standard of getting away with it until it ends has become
the norm.

It will not matter how many times this is posted, this discussion
will continue. Unfortunately, the ones that ignore the rules get
angry with the ones that practice good neighbor policy.

Why do parks now charge extra for dogs????? Because owners
do not pick up.

.
Where is that " rule "

I searched the Walmart site and didn't see it. I Emailed Walmart and got no response except what you link leads to, from them.

The rest is internet hearsay.

I was referring to "ALL RULES"

Common courtesy, sense and etiquette all fall under "rules".
Living by the "Golden Rule" does not mean it needs to be written down.
Rules and laws were made to protect people from others that have no respect for someone else.
Why do we need CG rules, speed limits, distracted driving laws, etc.

Walmart says they welcome overnight parking........not camping.

At one time, way back when, there was a huge "WallyDocking: style discussion on IRV2. The thread eventually was closed because of people disagreeing over the Walmart Rules of Etiquette as developed by people other than Walmart Corp.

I do believe that everyone has a right to their opinion. The hard part is for the rest of us to separate opinion from fact. Our next MH will be larger and likely have slides. I will also continue to doondock in parking lots as required and depending on what we end up with slides in or out will be optional and done as best suited to the situation.

YMMV

I'm with you on this. I've never seen a "No fire rings" sign so some here must think it's ok to do at Walmart right?

I don't think it's a "rule", just a bit of common sense. Slides out if not obstructing or a danger of getting hit, stabilizers down if pavement isn't soft, etc.
Let's just use common sense and courtesy when GIVEN THE PRIVILEGE of over nighting at any commercial parking lot. If we don't we will lose it!

How do you know if the pavement is too soft for jacks if you don't put the jacks down? And if it is and you discover after putting jacks down, then it's too late, right?
