In our area we have Forestry Service camgrounds. Many are located near lakes, accessable by logging roads. Most are free. This is where we like to camp. Camping in a large group, or on pavement, just isn't my cup of tea. Paying an exhorbitant fee, or paying $8 for an armload of firewood doesn't work for me either. So, we are drycamping, and boondocking. We love it.

That doesn't mean it's a thing of the past. When it isn't allowed it's usually some kind of city ordinance, not WM's manager. I'm sure the manager's like the extra income too.

As you see rigs pulling in, in minutes you'll see someone leave their RV and go into the store just like we do... or my DH does as I'm usually getting the cats settled into the TT and making coffee. If all the WalMart stores stop it, we, like the other RVers, will simply find other places like truck stops and behind closed malls.

We use "Boondocking" for all free no hookup parking although we admit that dry camping is a broader term and boondocking is out in the wilds away from cities etc. We use one word for simplicity and WE always know what we mean. 8-)

Every morning I go for a long walk but now I'm not sure if I really do!! Maybe I'm going for a saunter... or a sojourn.. or walkabout, jaunt, stroll, saunter, amble, trudge, plod, dawdle, hike, tramp, tromp, slog, stomp, trek, march, stride, sashay, glide, troop, patrol, wander, ramble, tread, prowl, promenade, roam, traipse; What do YOU call it when your doing it cause you're in need of losing weight and getting a morning paper. hmmmm.

Everyone seems to define RV camping/parking/living deferentially.
To me both "drycamping" and "boondocking" mean:
"camping without hookups".
IMO parking overnight in a rest area, truck stop, Walmart or other parking lot is NOT "drycamping" or "boondocking"...
(it's simply "overnighting").

First off, SHE clearly said SHE was unfamiliar with the word, "boondocking", ergo SHE is a 'newbie' with regard to boondocking.
