Boondocking in Ontario

Hi,

thanks to YouTube, I found this place near Bala, Ontario (only about 1.5 hours north of Toronto). Known as the Torrance Barrens. They have proper trails and a few lakes. A short drive to Bala which is on Lake Muskoka and a nice tourist area.

My file sizes are much too large for this site but they can be found on Flicker at:

In the first site I was in, most Class B's would fit OK. Class C's would be a touch too wide and possibly wouldn't be able to drive in some areas. I did see some 25 - 30 foot trailers in there too.

Haven't finalized any videos of the area but will update this once I do.

Cheers,

Steve

There's some other great spots very close to that area also, some waterfront even.

Hi,

yes there are, but all of those spots were occupied this past long weekend. I was also looking for a quiet area too, away from the other sites and found it.

Excellent area for camping and the trails are interesting. Also, close to Hardy Lake Provincial Park which is also good but doesn't permit camping. I'll definitely be back there during the Fall!

Here's the link to the video:

I've been there twice this Spring ... just this past May 22 weekend and also one day in late April.

Your pictures are amazing. I haven't camped in Ontario since I was a kid. The wife and I need to head that way this summer.

Thanks for sharing, T4

Thanks T4halo ... now is a good time to head back here ... the exchange rate is a bonus and cost of gasoline/diesel is significantly down from even 2 years ago.

Cheers,

Steve
