Bristol VA

Hi. We are making a trip from TN to NY to Mass to PA and then back to TN by way of I-81. Looking for a stopover the first night. Has anyone had any experience staying at the Bass-Pro or the Cabela's in Bristol, VA? Since we are leaving the house here in TN around 3 PM, that is about as far as we want to go that night, especially towing a jeep, a first for us.

I appreciate your help as this is our first long trip with our RV. We did a shakedown last weekend in Pigeon Forge, no problems. With all of the checklists and research we did for months prior to the actual purchase, as well as the input from this forum, we did ok.

I've never stayed there but I overnighted at the Flying J/Pilot in Wytheville Va, which is about an hour North off 81. Let me know how the stay goes at the Bass Pro. I've never overnighted at one, but heading to Clarksville TN later this month and planned to overnight at the same Pilot/Flying J but bass pro is another option.

We have stayed at Cabela's on several occasions but not that particular one. I would call that store directly & ask about the overnight parking policy. Cabela corporate policy is RV friendly but local regulations might over ride that policy.

Yes!

Thanks for all of your replies. I called the Cabela's in Bristol, VA. The gentleman was extremely friendly, he said "Come on over and make yourself at home." He actually told me where the RVs park, so we are set.

huge thanks

Well we had a great first boon docking last night at the Bristol VA cabela. There was a sign designating an area specifically for RVs and trucks. There was 4 or 5 huge pull through spaces and a dump station. In the morning we got our morning walk completed by walking around the parking areas of cabela and the neighboring Lowe's store. There is also a sheets gas station nearby.

As we continue this trip up to NY I will be researching where to stop tonight.

Happy travels😊

There is a great Walmart stop at Staunton, VA. It's on the north side of I81. There is a Flying J just north of Winchester, VA. It's just south of the WV state line.

Thanks for sharing. I may add that as my overnight spot on my way to Clarksville TN.
