Canada Boondocking

Is there many boondocking areas in Canada? We are going to be starting our new life of retirement in the summer. We are looking for our first MH and places we want to visit.

Welcome Nieghbour! There's lots of places, many within just a few hours of where you live.

Unlike the US, where Canadians can camp free on BLM land, Canada charges $18/night for US campers on Crown land.

Ontario Crown Land Use

Roadtreking Use of Crown Land

You can stay free in NB as long as you do not leave a mess. NS has a law of no one can sleep in an RV unless it's in a registered CG. Its written on the provincial map.

Congrats on your retirement this summer and welcome to RVing community.

We are looking forward to RVing through BC and Alberta provinces this summer, and Yukon Territory. You have a beautiful country and we are looking forward to exploring as much as we can.

Saw a big electric sign at the Moncton NB Casino inviting trucks and RVs to spend the night.

That's not quite a true statement. Unlike the US there isn't a single national land-holding body such as the BLM in Canada. Crown land falls under the authority of the Province or Territory in which it's located.

Each jurisdiction sets it's own policies, and fees if any.

The 'permit' is merely a form of registration so they know who is where, it's a big place after all, in case of an emergency.
