Canoe in Louisiana

Can I launch my canoe in any body of water in Louisiana?

The alligators will be happy to see you. Maybe even have you over for lunch.

We do it at most public places. Alligators do not eat men in winter. We just leave then alone and respect each other. We do our rowing with a 16ft tandem kayak. But during mating season in spring and later, it's a completely different story. Watch for kids and dogs at any time.
