Coke Zero 400 - Daytona

I am camping in the infield of Daytona International Speedway, Lake Lloyd area, for this race next week and was wondering if anyone was also attending the race.

Sorry advertising in such a manner is not allowed at Daytona. Take on a full tank of water and have empty holding tanks. Fill the fuel tank for the generator.
Get there as early as possible for a better selection unless you have a reserved spot. You will have a good time. Did both races in the infield, reserved spot for 12 years. Stopped going in 04.

RV Wizard,

Thanks for your suggestions. We have water and 50 A electric during this race. At 95 degrees our air conditioners are running constantly. During the Daytona 500, we dry camp and yes we use a lot of fuel.

Went to the 600 two years ago and it was hot, hot, HOT! Stayed in a hotel across the street. Had a blast!

Taking our current rig to the 500 is definitely on our list - maybe for 2016 Daytona Rising unveiling. Looking at Lake Lloyd spots as well for when we do go. Is this your first time staying there vs. another spot in the infield? Would love to know your thoughts on Lake Lloyd vs. Geico yellow premium spots. I'm still up in the air for which one we'd want (we will have grandstand seats).

From the looks of it, I'd have to get an inflatable pool as well!

Enjoy the race!

We camp Geico Green for the 500 and Lake Lloyd for the July race. In February, it definitely is cooler and we can sleep without the two air conditioners. We only run the generator during the day and up till 10PM. July race is a different story, the air conditioners never stop running, so the 50 Amp electric is needed. Thankfully, the July race is at night time. The Green area is near turn 4 which does see its share of car crashes. The green area you are on grass and in February that is ok, but in July when it rains it pours so it is nice being on asphalt. As we typically go to both races, we enjoy the difference of the two areas. If you ever camp in Lake Lloyd you want to be on the lake side as the view of the backstretch is much better. The cost of camping at Lake Lloyd in February is pretty high, about $3k, and we only spend about $2k for both races. People in both areas are friendly, but it is quieter in Lake Lloyd.

So, how'd it go? Did you stay for the race the next day? I've only camped in the infield once in July before they made it a night race. It monsooned all night, then the next day was clear and HOT. All the moisture was steaming up from the ground. It was just miserable. But we had a great time! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

We had a great time despite the rainy weather and delay of the race. Camping on asphalt really helps get you through the rain. I am ready for next year. We left Sunday evening after most of the others left. It is only a two hour drive, so I felt that I would be better off driving later after the traffic lightened up. I guess the traffic was a little lighter because many people left early Sunday morning before the race. Jim

I used to park in the Yellow reserved for the 500, last couple of years I parked at the dog track for around $200 & on Saturday you can move to the Infield reserved for $250
There's a shuttle from the Dog Track to the speedway & we had a blast with all the people that rode in with us.
