Prove it. Test them both using the exact same methods in a controlled environment with accurate testing equipment. I'd like to see the results to help others make decisions when I am able.

In my research, it was stated by Champion that their Db numbers were recorded while the generator was just idling and under no load. Honda publishes their numbers while the generator is producing full rated load. So just comparing Db numbers doesn't give an accurate comparison.

My opinion counts equal to yours. That's zilch.

Which champion generator is being tested in those results you posted? On the websites, they only show the number obtained where load=0% which is misleading......

I have used one of those collapsible garbage cans and drape an old blanket over it. Place the generator so the exhaust is just outside. With it pointed away from me and with an extension cord it really reduces the noise. I have a 1000 watt honda and even on eco mode it makes some noise. I have spent many hours designing fancy boxes with very little help. Getting the thing away and behind something works great. A three sided box may not fit flat on the ground and any gap will allow noise to get out.

2000w inverter CSA approved version sold in Canada. I had to contact their tech dept. and they sent me those results.

This is the question I posed. ( see pic) based on a comment from within this thread that you posted.

Now I'm confused as to whether you agree with me or am disputing the claim......as YOUR DOCUMENTATION has proven my point true !

Your prior email shows that 53dba is measured at "no load". Notice what they publish on their website -the 53 dba number ! This leads many to assume that the champion is quieter than the Honda which publishes 59 dba at full load.

Having seen both Hondas and Champions operate side by side with similar loads, I can tell you without any doubt the Honda's are quieter. Also, comparing the Honda to the Yamaha, although Yamaha may have a lower dB rating for a similar model, the tone of the Honda seems less offensive to my ears. There's major price fixing for Honda/Yamaha in Canada... US dealers will sell below msrp.

Generator "quiet box"

It proved your statement to be partially true. The deception about distance is clearly not correct
They are equal up to 50% load.
Now , the difference of 6 DB is imperceptible to the human ear, at least to my human ear. Sitting in a library in absolute quiet produces a DB rating of 30DB. So standing outside in my campground with birds chirping and a light breeze I can hear no difference between the Honda and the champion. That goes for the DW and the Honda owner who was part of the test. Haters are gonna hate so while the haters out there are hating , I'll donate the money I saved to a worthwhile charity. Perhaps to the National assoc. of the deaf.
