I visited my local HF and I'm pretty impressed with their predator inverter generator. The reviews are coming in and are pretty good. I believe you can get them at $429 right now. They also have the parallel kit. This is my next purchase if we decide to boondock in the heat and need our AC while on the road or not plugged in.

How does harbor freight measure the volume of noise their generators make?

The Harbor Freight Predator 2000, 1600 watt, inverter generator, is rated 66 dba@ 1/2 load.

A Honda eu2000, 1600 watt, inverter generator, is rated 59 dba @ 100% load.

One other thing, I found in the Predator instruction manual, is the caution not to let it run out of gas while under load. They said it could output damaging surges to the things plugged into it.

It also says to change the oil every 8 hours. They probably meant, only the first 8 hours but thats not what it said. At that rate, you would be changed the oil every few days.

Each Honda eu2000 outputs 13.6 amps. 27 amps should start any 120 volt RV AC. Something else must be using some amperage.

I agree with Twinboat. When we had the pull behind, we used 2 EU2000s and it ran our AC without a problem. We always switched the Refrigerator to run on gas instead of electric when we used them.

Now I can run one AC with one EU2000 (with the Micro Air) as stated in post #8. We did not have a Micro Air on the pull behind.

Not saying your method doesn't work, but the video speaks for itself"

Go back and watch the video a little later on!
They hooked up the cap correctly and reduced the starting current by half.

Rather then just charging batteries, run the water heater and any other high draw items.
I have an AquaHot 600D, so diesel burner plus 2 -2000 watt electric elements. Also 400 watts of solar.

I also installed a Micro Air easy start 3T. My Honda 2000 runs my Coleman Mach 15 (15kBTU) just fine. You do need to: turn eco mode off on the generator, and turn off all other high draw 120 VAC items (water heater electrical heating element, put fridge on gas only, and turn off the converter/charger). I have run the system like this in temps up to the mid 90s.

We use 2 honda EU 2000's. I would recommend getting a BERG system to extend the run time. I can power one of my 15KW AC units all night using this without having to get up and refuel.

My Dometic Penguin II 15K A/C started and ran on a 20 amp house circuit using the 30A shore cable and a 20A dog one adapter. Occasionally it would trip the breaker, which was a pain, especially at 1 in the morning.

Even though I have two Honda 2000s I put in the Easy Start and haven't tripped the house breaker since.

Compressor start is a quieter event now as well.
