Henderson, Nevada

Like all the rest of the Canadian Snowbirds I have to head North very soon.

Thought I'd stop in Henderson, Nevada for a few days as I've never been to Las Vegas. I don't have a car as I ride my motorcycle everywhere. So thought I would ride into Vegas to check it out.

I know there are a lot of Casinos there that allow O/N parking, but was wondering if one is better (safer) than another.

Your experiences ??

Railroad Pass Casino, along side the highway 93/95 between, Boulder City and Henderson, has RV & Semi, parking, good food and is our spot to stop passing through Vegas. Usually just for a meal and a break from driving, as we stop in Laughlin/ Bullhead City going south or Alamo going north. Always see security at work when we are there, and because of being 2 miles out of Henderson and 15 or so away from the Strip/airport area, away from the ZOO that Vegas has become.
Arizona Charlie's RV park, 4445 Boulder Highway

Is our friend's favorite stopping place.
Safe travels.

Skip426, We used to stay at Railroad Pass a couple time a year. Always stayed up on the top portion of the parking lot away from the trucks. Then one trip they had it posted no camping. Have not been back since. Is the upper portion open for overnight camping again?

Thanks for the tip on Railroad Pass Casino. I'll call them to confirm O/N.

Good idea. They posted the no camping signs about the time Clark county was clamping down on the no overnight camping ordinance. The entire town of Laughlin also would not allow overnighting in casino parking lots then. I know the county backed off on Laughlin so maybe Railroad Pass is open too.

Please come back and let us know the outcome.

Lake Mead has 2campgrounds, one has no hook-ups, but water and a dump are nearby. Cheap and not too far from Henderson.

Just called Railroad Pass Casino and confirmed that they DO allow O/N parking in the 'upper parking lot' for RV's - as long as you are not 'camping'. Told me they have security patrolling the area so it is safe. Also said it is for one night only.

No camping, but you may park overnight.
Does this mean you may park your rig and stay in a room, or they look the other way while you spend the night with your slides out?

We also have used Lake Mead. The free sites work great, or can use the pay sites if you prefer. Easy drive to Vegas.

I was not aware that there were 'free' sites at Lake Mead. Everything I read said there was a fee - small but a fee nonetheless.

Can you tell me more.

YES

What (I'm sure) they were referring to was putting out your lawn chairs, BBQ etc.

Thank you for letting us know. I suspect the "no camping" has to do with the fact that the last time we stayed there, it seemed like several people were possibly living there full time.

Sorry....Free was the wrong word, small fee is correct. We stayed in the hookup sites last year (no shade), then on the way home stayed, only steps away, in the small fee area with shade at Lake Mead.
