How to make a fuel can user friendly.

Now they just found out that the gas can carrier needs to wear a mask du to danger of fires in the pits.
They had the old can system for 50 years without finding out the need to protect the gas can carrier.
There are more spills with this new contraption. Because it leaves an air pressure that forces fuel out. But no one will admit it it's the new rule.
Same as my new can nozzle that takes forever to vent up.

I'll stick to my VP Racing fuel cans. I have two white ones because you can see the contents through the plastic. You can easily purchase replacement parts for them too. They are heavy duty cans.

I know plastic cans are very popular and I use them for my aircraft. But how many people realize they build up a static electrical charge when gas flows out of them.
I know of one aircraft that burned a wing off before they got the fire out.
Perhaps someone could explain a method of safe handling.
Not sure if they can be grounded to prevent sparks.

While they do sell anti-static jerry cans they're pretty spendy. A can of anti-static spray is easy and cheap. We use it all the time

Yup. I spill way more gas with the new cans than I did with the old cans. Also, the new cans (mine at least) create a fan pattern with the gas, so it aerates and, IMHO, increases the gas fumes escaping into the environment.

I'm not simply trying to be controversial here, even though I usually am, but I am not having any trouble with any of the new gas can designs. I spill less gas now with the new design I prefer. For most things, I use a one gallon gas can that I have transfered fuel into from a larger can.

Before putting the nozzle of the can into, say, my generator, I pull the sleeve back from the nozzle to relieve any pressure in the can, and if I can I give it a little squeeze before I close the nozzle, then I put the nozzle in the gas tank of my generator.

While filling, I can regulate the speed by allowing the sleeve to open or close until it's filling at a rate I want.

When the tank gets full, it happens very suddenly if I haven't removed the screen at the filler, but all I have to do is lift up the gas can and the nozzle closes.

No problem.

Obviously, you've never wrestled a 5 gallon CARB gas can trying to press and hold the CARB spout open into the filler neck on a vehicle, they suck.

I keep gas in my vehicles to begin with. I have a stellar track record there, not running out and needing to use a gas can.

My small engines are another story, they run out routinely while in use, and need to be refueled from a can: weed eater, gennies, etc. Where I live the big clumsy valves aren't widespread.

Can you order gas cans from Amazon? Might solve the local problem.

The main thing I didn't like was how slowly the gas flowed. Mine all have vents now and I eliminated the clumsy on/off spouts.
