Hey Fellow RV Mutant!
You were born off the grid?
I was born before there was much grid, and town was 10 miles (nope, not even a wide spot in the road there).
We did have a well and electricity and a phone with a crank on it (yes party line, our number was 2 longs 1 short), and a radio (in the barn).

And, yes, I WAS truly sad when the dinosaurs died. :-)

Nope! Private camp ground.
We boonedocked kinda in a 12x40 1 bed room mobile with no power, no water, no phone, no sat, no wifi for 5 years in the summer and weekends on 45 acres in Gods Country, just off Lake FDR in Lincoln Co. WA.

My boondocking area of choice there is in the BLM holdings near Odessa. I'd bet that back when you were in Lincoln County there was still water in Pacific Lake! Not any more, though...

What I like most about Odessa is the lack of crowds, so I sorta avoid the big events...I do make a point of buying some sausage from that shop down by the railroad tracks when I go over there: yum!

My husband likes to ride his dual-sport bike around the area, too...though also because of the crowds we've never gone over for the annual Desert 100 offroad free-for-all, either. That thing's gotten so big they have to start the race in two waves now!

My definition of boondocking: Any full hookup 50 amp campsite with poor satellite TV reception.

Sorry for the interruption. Please, carry on....

I believe what you just described is more properly defined as "slumming", Rusty!

Definitely not boondocking. But, you can dream still.

Slumming used to be a hotel room with a B/W TV.
Now it is an RV with a TV less than 52"
