Creekwood Farms Rv is in the Maggie Valley area. It's really nice. 35-40 miles from asheville tho. Passport America too. 1 1/4 miles from I-40 (exit 20) also close to Ghost Town.Rutledge Lake Rv is near Asheville at Fletcher,N.C.

We're real fond of Timberlake Campground just outside of Whittier, NC. It's off the beaten path and is about 60 miles from Asheville.

Take a look at Wilsons in Asheville. Great rate on PA and a beautiful setting, right on the French Broad River. We stayed there for 4 days last year and really enjoyed the area.

Don't know what your requirements are, but look at Lake Powhatan Rec Area. I hosted there for almost six months and really enjoyed the natural beauty of the place. It is located in west Asheville, close to the Biltmore and downtown.

My guess is that by sep you shouldn't have any problems as the kids will be back in school. Lake Powhatan is considered a "primitive" campground, probably because it doesn't have FHUs. But it is in a really pretty area and I recommend it.

John,
It has been many years since I visited the Asheville area. I did stay at a place called Mountain Shadow Campground at 3748 Lake Logan Rd., canton, nc. It is about 30 miles southwest of Asheville. (828-648-0132). I do not know what the accommodations are so you would be better to call and ask and get reservations. You can Google the address and get a street view, although you will have to play with the arrows a little. When I did it a few months ago I saw a couple Class A's parked in there. If I ever get back up that way I will definitely see if I can stay there again. Most of the sites are at the rivers edge and it will lull you to sleep at night.

Happy trails.
