On my prior coach my vintage 2001 King Dome only needed to be ON when searching. Once locked it could be turned off and left off while the TV still worked fine. The satelite box (Dircetv in my case) provided the voltage required to the LNB while the King Dome was OFF. I didn't have to turn it on until I moved and needed to search again.

Alas, my new coach has a Traveler and needs to be on all the time.

Once the Travler has completed it's search routine, you can remove power if you want to. The Travler will stay in that position and does not need any power from the IDU until you are ready to stow it for travel. I have mine plugged into a power strip and after it's locked on, I turn the power strip off.

Question

I'm not to sure if this is off topic but, do you run into dead spots while traveling?

Mine is a KWH in motion and once it locks on I switch it off and it stays locked on.
