Looking for safe area to Boondock south Atlanta

Any suggestions for a safe place to boondock for 1 night near the Atlanta airport?

Seems to be lots of no overnight county ordinances there.

WMSC in Marietta, GA allows (its north)
The Sam's Club, WMSC, and Cracker Barrel in McDonough, GA do allow (and its south)
Stockbridge and Morrow do not allow.

I live 40 minutes away from the Atlanta Airport and that is a rough area down there. There is a WalMart Supercenter off of I-85 at Exit 64 at 6065 Jonesboro RD, Morrow GA

And South of the Airport a Flying J a little further out in a real safe area at Exit 201 off of I-75. 1125 Bucksnort Rd, Jackson GA

Trying to save the OP possible overnight issues... The reports on the Morrow GA wmsc (and Stockbridge) are as follows:

"Last Update:Mar 7, 2008
Comments:RVer reports that Overnight RV Parking is not allowed. Morrow, GA, has an Anti-RV No Overnight Parking ordinance which is strictly and stringently enforced."

Thats good to know, thanks. Then I would stay at the Flying J at exit 201 on I-75. Anything in South Atlanta or around the airport is a high crime area.

Troy Davis/Woodruff Park? I hear a lot of folks are boon-docking there. Parking may be a problem.

That's funny. I am surprised the Occupy protesters are not camped out in their Daddy's Prevosts.

this free allstays website is geared mostly to wally worlds but also lists other places. there are 3 walmarts listed in atlanta. when you stay at a walmart, always ask management or security where to park in the lot.

Newnan and stau in the area of Sprayberry's BBQ. Lot of shopping mall parking around there. Pretty good BBQ also. Ask the local constabulary and they will help you find a safe place.

We just moved from the Newnan area and worked in the airport area for a few years. Personally I would avoid the I75 area, the traffic compared to I85, is horrible, especially in the McDonough area. Newnan is about 20 miles from the airport, but not a bad drive. Peachtree City is safe and a little closer, but the city forbids overnight parking. As late as a couple of months ago, the Newnan WM did allow overnight parking. There are several restaurants in the nearby area (including Spayberrys) although I would not attempt to cross the road there on foot. Georgia drivers all believe that they are NASCAR drivers.

The Walmart is just to the east of exit 47 off I85.

Found a good place

We stayed at 3360 market place Blvd. East Point Ga. It was 3 miles from the airport. I talked to the Police Chief and she recomended this location. We parked in the Target parking lot. The folks at Target were nice and said no problem. Everything we needed was within walking distance.

Thanks for the update... You scored good!

FWIW Target, as a general rule, tends to be the ultimate anti-overnight parking heavyweight. Have even been known to sick their security guards when an RV even pulls into the lot to just stock up.
