Matagorda Bay, Port Lavaca, TX

Free camping (when we were there 2 years ago) for long as you like on the beach....... city or county owned, little use, great beach.

Whooping crane, Sand Crane winter nesting grounds close by, great non touristy area.

My family used to own a beach house not far from there on Magnolia Beach. I grew up crabbing and skiing in that bay. Beautiful area!

Steve, that looks really nice! Wish they would take reservations. Do you know if they allow pets?

Pets are ok. The trick seems to be arriving early in the week. I called a couple of days before arrival & was assured that they weren't typically full at that time.

not a park, a beach, just past the town of Magnolia Beach, no hookups, free to park there long as you want. Great beach.....
