Minnesota Lake Boondocking

We are going to Northern Minnesota this summer to visit friends, and having never been there before, I was wondering if there are any places near a lake or river to boondock in.

There are hundreds if not thousands of places to camp in northern Minnesota. Your best bet would be the state forests.

Minnesota State Forest Camping

Boundary Waters Camping

In addition, any public land in federal forests can be boondocked. one can buy ($10) maps of federal forests @ ranger stations. ie. LaCroix Ranger station, Cook, Mn. Plus all tax forfeited county land and public land in WMA's . what is stressed however, is Leave No Trace.

Thanks for the info. Now which one of the 10,000 lakes do I chose from. Sounds like fun.
