We go to Watkins Glen every year and have had the same site for over ten years. There is a water faucet 125' from our site where we hook up and roll out a hose reel and fill our fresh water tank. I also take along a 35 gallon Thetford tote to drain our black and gray tanks into and it is only a 1/4 mile to the dumping station.
I also use my Honda EU2000 generators instead of the onboard generator even though I have a Gen-Turi. I normally run the Hondas one at a time. We don't watch TV or use the Microwave but we could if we ran both Hondas at the same time. I can aim the exhaust away from neighboring campers just by turning the generators. We seldom use battery power except when running the water pump when showering and I always run at least one of the Hondas when the shower is in use to keep the batteries from discharging. We run one Honda all evening for outside lighting with the MH plugged in to keep the batteries charged and to run the refrigerator on electric instead of propane.
The Glen is quite strict on the 11:00 PM curfew for generators. Last year we did run a Honda all night as a friend of ours who was sleeping in my son's camper next to ours has a CPAP machine. We had a permit to do so and they said to put the permit on the front door of the camper. The first night we were there security came to our site at 11:15 and informed us we had to shut the generator down. I told him we had a permit and it was on the door window. That's when I realized it was on the outside of the opaque glass and the door was open. When I shut the door the fellow looked at it and told us to have a good evening.
I have the optional steel brackets for the Honda handles and use two Cobra cable locks to run the cable through the generator handles, a couple extra propane tanks and our gas grille. In the area we camp in I have never heard of anything being stolen but I'm sure it could happen.
