No RV Casino parking in Reno Nevada

Looks like Reno is once again enforcing the no overnight rv parking ban. They started this a few years ago but backed down when RV owners started boycotting Reno. Received this email today from my son who is on his way back to Oregon from Las Vegas.

"Made it to the Atlantis, but were promptly asked to leave by security. They were handing out tow notices citing some city ordinances about overnighting in rv's in Reno. Lucky for us Baldini's is in Sparks! Plus they have eggs, bacon and endless pancakes for 2.99. "

Just say no to Reno. Evidently they don't need our money.

Not quite true.Try the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino(GSR). You can stay overnight (or longer if you choose) right in their own RV Park...I'm sure they would be happy to take your money.

Some of the counties in NV have been pressured by the Campground Owner's Assn to ban overnight parking by RVs in "other than licensed campgrounds" they claim it is "unsanitary" and otherwise dangerous to the environment and such. Some of them have backed down, under pressure from the casinos who saw a loss of business.

My personal opinion.. NO, the casinos do not need our money.. They do quite well without it and they violate several federal laws doing it.. They need to be raided by INS.

We may be going through that part of Nevada this summer (plans of making it to Queen Charlotte Island (now known as Gwaii Haana). Should like to know if there are National Forest/BLM CGs in area that can be considered.

Yep, sure are. Head north on 395 out of Reno. Take highway 70 (about 25 miles) to Chilcoot. Just past the post office you will see a large sign "Frenchman Recreation area" Take a right about 9 miles. You will come upon the Chilcoot campground first and is a nice small and quite campground with a small creek with some nice sized trout. About 3 miles up ( cross the dam) from there are three more camp grounds, Frenchman (with a boat ramp and floating dock) Spring Creek just a stone throw from the lake and Big Cove with a handicap cement trail to the beach. Frenchman and Spring Creek are on a terraced hillside overlooking the lake and Big Cove is as flat as a pancake. All single campsites are $22 and doubles are $44. Did I mention we are on a large lake full of fish and wildlife everywhere.

Maybe Reno should re think their stand. Just heard this on the news last night.
Nevada casinos won $982 million from gamblers in March, an increase of 7.6 percent from the same month a year ago. Gambling revenue in Reno and Washoe County fell nearly 11 percent.

The last time we went thru Reno we stayed in a Casino Parking Lot West of Reno almost to the CA state line, canít remember the town or the Casino name. There were other RVs there also.

We stayed in Boomtown last year, but in the large adjacent RV park. Didn't notice any RVs boondocking in the main casino parking lot, but didn't really look around much.
