North Idaho Panhandle Boondocking

Looking for places around the Trail of the Coeur d'Alene's trail that we can safely boondock and be close to water and the trail.

We used to live down in Pocatello ID and seemed it was easy to find places to camp around water (lakes or rivers) but I'm lost in trying to figure out where to go up here around Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

And if getting close to the trail is out, then just need places to go that is near water.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't have an answer to that question, but am wondering the same. Camped at a cg in the middle of town a few months ago and am considering relocation. How's Idaho in general for boondocking?
